Job Summary:
The X-ray Windows and Detectors Mechanical engineer will have primary responsibility to design, assemble, and test innovative new X-ray radiation detectors and windows using advanced 3D modeling, simulation, and hands-on experimentation. The engineer will work on a cross-functional team with other Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Physicists from a variety of backgrounds. Responsibilities include: in-depth research on x-ray detector and x-ray windows mechanical design, fixturing modeling to improve manufacturability, and new equipment design, install, and qualification. Additionally, you will collaborate with a dedicated team to develop predictive models that assess the performance and reliability of our X-ray devices, contributing to cutting-edge solutions in the manufacturing industry. This is a hands-on position with time split between design, build, and test
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop new X-Ray products and equipment using 3D modeling, simulation, and experimentation.
- Develops or helps to develop models for predicting the performance and reliability of X-Ray devices.
- Defining the mechanical parts and integration with front-end electronics requirements and specifications.
- Hands-on equipment setup and ability to use 3D printers to build internal to Moxtek parts.
- Interact with others in R&D and Production, listening, communicating, and incorporating joined expertise in materials, processing, and design.
- Develop new manufacturing methods, test procedures, and test equipment.
- Plans laboratory experiments to confirm performance of designs, evaluate processing parameters and tooling.
- Explore uses, capabilities, and limits of current products and prototype product.
- Prepare reports of study findings for the use of other engineers, team members and customers.
- Demonstrates ability to use a methodical approach to problem solving and designing experiments.

- Motivation: Self-starter able to function with minimal supervision. Actively coordinates with other team members to proactively identify and resolve manufacturing quality issues.
- Communication: Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Statistical Background: Experience with various statistical tools and software.
Education and Experience:
- Education: BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or 5 years of related experience. For recent graduates GPA 3.0 - 4.0.
- Working knowledge of CAD with SolidWorks preferred, CSWA or equivalent experience level
- CAE user, ANSYS, SolidWorks, CST and/or other simulation tools.
- Experience in experimental setups and mechanical design including understanding of statistically driven analysis and experimentation.
- Basic programming is a plus. (Some experience in programing in LabView, C, C#, MatLab)
- Must have US work authorization and not need sponsorship now or in the future.
