COMPENSATION

This position is 40 hours/week and an hourly rate of pay between $24.00 to $30.00 based on education and years of experience.

JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Education Behavior Technician is responsible for supporting teachers and classroom teams with implementing behavior management plans, co-leading interventions in crisis situations, and liaison with other program staff, as well as, providing direct student support through implementation of the given academic/positive behavioral intervention program designed by classroom teams/school personnel. As with a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) the Hunt School Registered Education Behavior Technician (EBT) is responsible for directed support with individualized behavioral plan development under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Behavior Programing. This position will also work on special projects to support the Director, Assistant Director, and Educational Behavior Supervisor.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Behavior Plan Support

  • Assist teachers with implementing students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Assist with direct implementation of behavioral plans developed and supervised by the Assistant Director of Behavior Programing and/or Education Behavior Supervisor, which may include data collection, data input, modeling, support, and mentorship of school staff.
  • Assist Educational Behavioral Supervisor around school/agency safety procedures to help maintain functionality, safety, and cleanliness of the physical school environment.
  • Implements the school wide and classroom positive behavioral intervention structure or management system, including coaching students so that they are able to quickly return to school tasks, accompanying students to and/or supervise students in designated alternative locations when they are unable to remain in the main classroom.
  • Assists the Behavior Program staff and teacher in planning for and developing the IEP draft document and quarterly progress reports.
  • Confers, as needed, with agency staff on student status or the need for additional behavior planning.
  • Supervises students during class breaks and during lunch, as assigned.
  • Always keeps track of students’ whereabouts, following through/keeping students within eyesight when student(s) are missing or out-of-bounds.
  • Transition students in an orderly manner during transportation transitions from the car/bus/taxi to the classroom or from the classroom to the car/bus/taxi.

Compliance

  • Assist in medication administration, dispensing, and record keeping compliance.
  • Assists in record keeping, as directed by the Educational Behavior Supervisor, and teacher or other administrative school staff.
  • Write daily reports that document the students’ academic and social behaviors.
  • Participates in the preparation of daily reports that document a student’s academic and social behavior for the day.
  • Assist in fidelity checks throughout Hunt School records, e.g. proactive actions to reduce program drift
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with TJC, e.g. Food, Health and Safety.

Teambuilding / Cooperation

  • School staff/team co-leader for all school events as assigned. May include weekly incentive activities, coordination of seasonal events and associated activities, clubs, yearbook, special events, student council, school displays, etc.
  • Mentors substitute and newly hired staff as assigned, e.g. mentorship around school onboarding and new staff training processes.
  • Leads or co-facilitates during crises situations, including implementation of CPI or equivalent.
  • Attends and participates in school staff meetings and with other agency personnel, as needed.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma required. Equivalent AA, BA, or BS, four-year college degree preferred.
  • California Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance.
  • A valid California driver's license, dependable personal vehicle for use on the job, insurable by Side by Side insurance policy based on DMV record, and proof of personal vehicle insurance.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst, (BCaBA) certification completed within four months of attaining the position. OR
  • Proven experience working in a special education classroom and/or additional experience in a treatment milieu for students with learning and social/emotional challenges..

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Basic locomotive skills to jog, run, and walk at a brisk walking pace of 100 steps per minute; running at 6-7 MPH for approximately 3 minutes.
  • Able to bend and/or kneel to the floor and return to a standing position without the aid of using a student’s body to do so and within a safe and reasonable timeframe; basically, to bend down and get back up without requiring aid of another person, either to hold onto or to help lift up.
  • Sufficient balance and coordination to effectively guide dysregulated students grades K-12 or ages 5-19.
  • Must be able to implement CPI techniques: This is a key point in physical requirements, it requires the ability to hold and stabilize physically aggressive students, and to aid in physical interventions and holds to keep students, staff, self, and avoid major property damage (broken windows, holes in walls, etc.)
  • Sitting, walking, standing, twisting and bending for most of the time.
  • Occasional reaching and/or grasping using hands and/or arms.
  • May be required to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • May be required to ascend/descend stairs.
  • Regular use of hands requiring dexterity in using the telephone, computer keyboard, mouse or calculator.
  • Visual ability to read documents and computer monitor.
  • Exposure to low to moderate noise levels characteristic of working in a school including loud outburst 
  • Ability to drive to various sites.
  • Hearing and speech to converse in person and over the telephone.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Physical ability to implement CPI procedures or its equivalent, including physical restraints.
  • Able to perform basic first aid and/or CPR.
