Summary
The main role for this Staff Accountant is to ensure the accuracy and integrity of Spark’s financial records by performing routine accounting tasks such as recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting financial reporting and auditing. The duties and responsibilities of this position require not only a focus on accounting data, but an attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills.
This position will support our Accounting team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office 3 days per week. This position is based out of Philadelphia, PA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and fiscal year-end close processes.
- Analyze and prepare financial statements/job costing reports.
- Analyze revenue and expenses.
- Maintain the general ledger and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Assist with year-end audit and annual budget.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and standard operating procedures.
- Assist the accounting team when needed.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- 2-5 years of hands-on corporate accounting experience, preferably with a large company.
- Experience with a corporate ERP system (SAP, NetSuite, etc.) preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with an advanced skillset in Excel.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Excellent data entry skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills.
- Effective organizational, stress and time management skills.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently or as a team member.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
