RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Optical Engineer is a member of a cross-functional Innovation project team, responsible for fulfillment of innovation project objectives in terms of system development and designs in the field of lighting for vehicle exteriors and interior applications.

• Key person of innovation topics in terms of optical systems – define and lead optical system design and definitions based on concepts and requirements.
   
• Performs 3D CAD design for optical modules / optical parts of a lighting system following company and customer standards and specific customer requirements, legal requirements and CAE simulations.

• Prepare and perform presentations to customers and suppliers. Actively negotiate solutions proposed to customers/suppliers with respect to interests and requirements of OPmobility. Scout for innovation opportunities, cost optimizations and actively participates in their implementation.

• Create system-function description and layouts of optical elements to help capture requirements.
•  
• Ensure technical tasks related to thermal, electronics, materials, technology, structural analysis and programming topics according to needs.

• Use of simulation and other tools to understand optical issues and capture and analyse requirements. Use of Lite tools, Lucid Shape, Speos as well as other simulation SW (UNREAL will be an advantage).

• Support all steps for intellectual property protection when a new product design is defined in process of product development.

• Negotiate project technical topics/issues with customers and suppliers. Actively communicates with experts within and outside of the company.                                                            

• Represents the company at the technical conferences internally and externally, prepares and presents own contributions (e.g. articles, presentations, publications).                                                                           

• To evaluate concepts, you will be part of the pre-development team who studies and develops projects in the field of innovation at OPmobility Exterior and Lighting with a strategic orientation in coordination with central departments and experts.

• Understand new challenges, participate in our technological discussions and  lead and help shape it

• Enhances own professional skills outside of own specialization applied for solution of dedicated development tasks.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT(S):

• Bachelor‘s or Master‘s degree in Engineering with specialization in optics or similiar area.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S) :

• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in light optics design and simulation (incl. knowlege of related tools like Catia or LucidShape. In addition relevant know how in related component definition (sources, lences, mechanics)
• Knowledge of automotive lighting systems by knowing main technologies and key aspects is beneficial
• Knowledge of optical matarials is beneficial.                
• Strong communication skills and persuasive skills on a technical level (focus on optical and optoelectronics), as well as a confident demeanor, structured and independent way of working and customer affinity. Strong affinity to optical design.
• Dynamic and self motivated
• Ability to challenge and deliver to deadlines.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Travel: Willingness to travel at short notice (customer, suppliers and company sites in Americas and Europe)
