Upholds the Credit Union’s mission of "We do the right thing one member, one employee, and one experience at a time to strengthen the communities we serve” by assisting Commercial Lenders in the origination, processing and closing of commercial loans. Creates a smooth and timely transition from application to closing, and provides an exceptional experience for our members. Ensures compliance with appropriate regulations, investors, title companies, and Credit Union policy and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
• Prepares, files, researches, tracks and maintains loan documents including participation loans, and commercial/mortgage loans. Assembles and maintains accurate files.
• Responsible for ordering appraisals, property valuations, flood searches, letter reports, title commitments and ordering payoff requests for loans being refinanced.
• Monitors insurance on property/vehicles held as collateral.
• Books and disburses commercial loans from the core system.
• Processes paid loans including preparation and recording of satisfactions.
• Prepares and submits HMDA reporting.
• Assists commercial members and employees in person, by telephone, and via e-mail with requests and basic questions regarding commercial loans.
• Monitors participation loans, variable rate loans, interest only loans, and development or construction loans.
• Promotes products and services to enhance member relationships with the credit union.
• Responsible for following all processes and procedures put in place to insure each and every commercial/mortgage file is in compliance.
• Assists other branches when information is needed from loan files.
• May train new employees.
• Reviews closed commercial/mortgage files for completeness and accurateness.
• Coordinates the tracking of recorded mortgages and final title policies/letter reports to ensure adequate lien position.
• Coordinates the tracking of vehicle liens to ensure adequate lien position.
• Works with outside vendors on audit requests.
• Researches and follows up on post-closing audit findings.
• Works with the Supervisor and Chief Commercial Officer on audit findings.
• Works with title companies preparing for closings.
• Pull daily reports from DNA and make corrections as needed.
• Actively attends meetings and training sessions to remain up to date and be responsible for policies, regulations, procedures, products and legal requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) policies and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned to assist others in completing tasks and work assignments. Responsible for projects assigned by the Supervisor, Chief Commercial Officer or other management team members.
Necessary Experience and Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in banking, finance, business or related field preferred or a minimum of two years of lending or related experience, preferably with commercial accounts.
• General office/administrative skills and experience.
• Good math aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to learn and use credit union computer systems and software.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend detailed and often technical instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as normally acquired through completion of a high school education, coupled with some technical school or college training.
• Ability to operate an on-line computer terminal (including a good working knowledge of the core computer system, Nautilus, Microsoft Office, and e-mail), fax machine, and adding machine normally acquired through a basic course or three to six months of on-the-job experience.
• Working knowledge of the products, services, and procedures needed to process transactions as normally acquired through a year or more of on-the-job experience, at least one of which is with the Credit Union.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for over ninety percent of work time. Must be able to closely examine documentation. Requires a high degree of accuracy.
• Analytical ability necessary to research and resolve complex issues, by reading and understanding detailed reports, technical materials, and/or regulatory requirements and utilizing this information to recommend and/or make strong business decisions.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and efficiently with a diverse group of members, employees, and vendors in stressful situations. Requires communication/listening skills necessary to effectively obtain necessary information to make appropriate and effective decisions.
• Ability to stay in one place for extended periods of time, handle a fast-paced stressful working atmosphere, and to transport objects weighing between five and 20 pounds for 1% of work time.
• Ability to project a professional image and practice professionalism in a financial environment.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
• Office environment with desk assignment.
• Occasional travel to other branch locations.
• Minimal lifting of up to 25 pounds.
• Frequent use of telephone, copier, computer and fax machine.
• Prolonged sitting and frequent mental and visual concentration.
