Hiring Range: $61,778 - $75,000.

NATURE OF POSITION
The Labor Relations Coordinator provides administrative and technical support to the Labor Relations team in labor relations matters. This role is ideal for an entry or intermediate level Human Resources or Labor Relations professional who is looking to grow their career and learn from an experienced team. This role will assist in the coordination of labor relations activities, maintain records and timelines, prepare correspondence, and serve as a point of contact for routine labor relations inquiries. The position supports labor relations staff and management by ensuring accurate tracking, documentation, and communication, and contributes to positive working relationships between management, represented employees, and union representatives.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the coordination of labor relations activities, including scheduling meetings, hearings, and grievance responses.
  • Track all labor related activity such as grievances, unfair labor practice (ULP), and arbitrations to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Maintain labor relations databases, files, and correspondence.
  • Prepare draft letters, reports, and meeting materials for review by labor relations staff and management.
  • Assist with basic research on past practices, contract provisions, and policy references.
  • Support fact-finding and investigation processes by organizing documents, scheduling participants, and preparing case files.
  • Serve as a point of contact for routine labor relations questions and escalate complex issues appropriately.
  • Participate in various Agency meetings and committees; collaborate with labor, internal departments, and external groups.
  • Provide logistical and clerical support for collective bargaining preparation, including document formatting, data entry, and file maintenance.
  • Ensure data compliance for Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
·     Basic knowledge of labor relations principles and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of Federal, State, and local labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and workplace policies.
  • Use of HRIS [NeoGov, Paylocity, ADP, Workday, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills to interact with external and internal groups.
  • Learn new technologies, policies, procedures and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.
  • Utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs.
  • Understand, follow, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Work as a team member and independently; effectively apply organizational and time management skills; meet deadlines and comply with Agency policies.
  • Exercise sound judgment in making decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited institution and two-years of progressive experience in a human resource and labor environment; or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and education. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
None.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two-years’ of progressive experience in labor relations.
