Summary:

As a Mechanical Designer IV at Frontgrade, you will play a key role in developing high-reliability products for space, defense, and aerospace applications. You’ll transform engineering concepts into detailed designs, 2D and 3D models, drawings, and assemblies using industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., CREO, SolidWorks). This role requires a strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes, and industry best practices to create designs that meet stringent technical, quality, and performance standards. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, provide design leadership, and ensure drawing packages meet all internal and external requirements.  

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive the early-stage design and layout of new products with input from engineering teams and analysis groups 
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for new products, fabrication tooling, and test fixtures using CREO (preferred) or similar CAD tools 
  • Create and release engineering documentation packages 
  • Provide design expertise during internal and customer design reviews; prepare necessary calculations, analysis support, and presentation materials  
  • Partner with manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) concerns 
  • Provide technical guidance to junior designers and engineers on design standards, modeling best practices, and drawing quality 
  • Work directly with project engineers, manufacturing engineers, suppliers, and quality teams to ensure designs meet all technical and production requirements 
  • Follow all Frontgrade engineering policies, procedures, and export control regulations (ITAR/EAR) 
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline 
  • Experience in the design of electronic or electromechanical products 
  • Expert in GD&T 
  • Strong 3D modeling and 2D drafting skills using CREO (or similar 3D CAD software)  
  • Familiarity with Windchill 
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) principles 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by either ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws. As a condition to this job offer, in order to be employed in this position, you must be able to obtain an U.S. Government export license(s), as required by law.
  • Pay Range: $83,805 - $104,756 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
