Salary: Currently $49,638.36-$92,138.12 (DOE), still being negotiated for 2025-2026 (Prorated based upon start date and FTE).
Insurance: Generous Health, dental, and vision contribution from the district, currently up to $2202 (based upon family coverage), TBD for 2025-2026.
PERS Retirement: The district assumes and pays the 6% average employee contribution to the Oregon PERS system.

Job Summary:
Klamath Early Childhood Development Center (KECDC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our team. This position is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs that provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The goal is to support children’s growth across all domains, including cognitive, social-emotional, language and communication, literacy, and physical development.
The teacher works closely with families and other agencies serving the child, participates in eligibility evaluations, provides service coordination for Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs), and functions as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary team. The role may also include providing guidance and functional supervision to teacher aides or assistants.
All teachers are expected to be familiar with and uphold the “Competent Educator Standards” as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 584-020-0010).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruction & Classroom Support

Develop, plan, and implement individualized and group curriculum to support children's cognitive, social-emotional, communication, motor, and adaptive development.

Adapt classroom activities and materials to support individualized learning goals.

Organize and maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Administer basic medical assistance (e.g., toileting, diapering, tube feeding) to medically fragile students, as required under supervision.

Monitor student behavior and ensure safety across various settings (classroom, playground, field trips).
-
Prepare instructional materials and document observations, progress data, and attendance records.

Assessment, Planning & Documentation
-
Participate in EI/ECSE referral and intake processes; conduct developmental assessments and eligibility determinations.
-
Collect, record, and analyze data on children's progress; maintain accurate and timely documentation, including IFSPs, reports, and required forms.
-
Act as IFSP service coordinator for assigned children, facilitating meetings and ensuring service delivery aligns with plans.

Evaluate progress toward IFSP goals using both standardized and observational methods.

Prepare reports, newsletters, anecdotal notes, and other required written materials to support documentation and communication.

Consultation & Collaboration

Provide consultation and training to EI/ECSE and mainstream staff in areas such as behavior management, instructional strategies, and legal requirements related to special education.

Assist parents, caregivers, and staff in implementing strategies prescribed by physical therapists, occupational therapists, and/or speech-language pathologists.

Collaborate with families, service providers, medical professionals, and community partners (e.g., Head Start, private preschools, daycare centers, school districts) to support child outcomes and smooth transitions.

Supervision & Leadership

Provide direction and functional supervision to educational assistants, student teachers, and volunteers.

Support program staff in all aspects of program transitions and public school transitions.

May assist in recruiting and training volunteers and interns.

Professional Conduct & Program Support

Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and participate in committees or advisory groups as needed.

Follow district policies, legal mandates, and program standards regarding student safety, reporting suspected abuse, and documentation.

Maintain program materials and equipment; order supplies as needed.

Use computer systems and software (e.g., word processing, email, databases) to complete responsibilities efficiently.

Meet district performance standards and uphold Oregon’s “Competent Educator Standards” (OAR 584-020-0010).

Maintain regular and reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, special education or a related field. Those without a TSPC endorsement in EI/ECSE or a related field must possess or have the ability to possess the Early Childhood Specialist authorization within 12 months of employment.

- Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.

- Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from children and families.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations.
- General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use database software, e-mail, internet software, spreadsheets, and word processing software (Google Docs, Forms, Calendar, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Hold a valid Oregon Driver’s License.
- Obtain registration through the Central Background Registry (CBR) and maintain registration.
- Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.
