JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team as Senior Tunneling Project Manager.
Reporting to the Project Director, the Senior Tunneling Project Manager is responsible for providing leadership and oversight in the planning and execution of complex tunneling and marine projects. This role ensures that projects are delivered in alignment with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, while safeguarding safety, quality, and environmental standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Project Management Leadership: Develop, implement, and enforce industry-standard project management practices across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and communication.
- Lifecycle Planning & Execution: Manage all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery for the Deep-Water Intake tunneling project.
- Risk & Change Control: Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and manage integrated change control for scope, schedule, and budget adjustments.
- Governance & Gate Reviews: Prepare and present gate packages, ensuring compliance with phase-gate requirements and securing approvals for project milestones and funding releases.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on project progress using earned value, forecasting methods, and performance metrics to drive timely and informed decisions.
- Financial Oversight: Review estimates, monitor project costs, maintain budget integrity, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster communication across functional teams, project sponsors, and external stakeholders and regulatory requirements to align goals, progress, and expectations.
- Contract & Procurement Management: Oversee procurement activities, including scope of work, contractor oversight, and contract compliance.
- Field and Quality Management: Ensure quality assurance/control, field engineering coordination, and commissioning activities are executed to standards and protocols.
- Construction Management: Oversee and manage all construction and field execution activities, ensuring delivery in alignment with scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 10 years of experience leading and overseeing major civil infrastructure projects, with a strong preference for tunneling or marine projects.
- A university degree in engineering or construction, or equivalent experience. PMP certification is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to high standards in safety, environmental, and quality compliance with all codes and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage budgets, schedules, risks, and team performance.
- Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and rightsholders.
- Resilient leader, able to manage competing priorities and deliver results under pressure.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
