In this role, you'll:
Lead the delivery of the full range of internal and external strategic communication and stakeholder engagement activities for major (and state significant) infrastructure projects in the development and construction space. Work with a specialist communication and engagement team to lead communications and engagement activities for projects in our patch (on the Princes Highway, south of Nowra), including, crafting messaging for projects including development of key messaging to be used across platforms such as community updates, email blasts, webpage content and social media.
Embrace the challenge of a role with variety as you provide communication advice to project teams to develop stakeholder and engagement plans, strategies, and materials. You will work collaboratively to understand and project status, timelines and how milestones are effectively communicated to our community and stakeholders. You’ll facilitate meetings, coordinate and drive events, workshops, and community consultation activities. You’ll provide strategic advice on the effective management of emerging communications and stakeholder issues and concerns and work on behalf of stakeholders to resolve the significant problems.
The role also includes coordination of media activities and responses to ministerial requests, while building and maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote open communications and facilitate the delivery of best practice stakeholder engagement initiatives.

About you
You’re someone who is comfortable in a complex environment like Government. You have strong experience in the communications and engagement space with time spent in a construction, development or planning space being most advantageous. You’ll also have proven abilities to manage competing priorities, liaise with multiple stakeholders, and process driven.
To succeed in this role you will have an adaptable nature, strong interpersonal skills, and a real passion for having a positive impact on your community
Your skills and work experience in communication, engagement, media, or public relations matter most in this position, but a relevant tertiary qualification will also be advantageous.
This role is based out of the Wollongong office in the South region. The wider team supports a hybrid working environment; however, there is expectation that some time will be spent working from the Wollongong office and attendance at project locations, which is located on the NSW South Coast.. Reporting to the Community & Customer Engagement Manager, this is temporary full-time role available until August 2026. The salary for this position USS 9 ($133,572 - $143,593) per annum plus superannuation.
