About Cadia


Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

Who we are looking for

 

We are seeking skilled and motivated Longhole Drillers to carry out the safe and productive operation of production longhole drill rigs to achieve desired production firings. This safety-critical role will see you read and accurately follow mine instruction plans with skill and precision ensuring holes are drilled to the design.

 

Key deliverables include:

 

· Perform accurate uphole and downhole drilling to the design requirements

· Read ground conditions in consultation with Supervisor, and where ground conditions require, stop the job and request additional ground support to be installed

· Maintain equipment in clean and reliable working condition

· Play a key role in maintaining a safe work environment by promptly reporting any safety-related incidents or property damage.

· Responsible for consistently meeting daily production targets, ensuring alignment with broader operational goals and contributing to the achievement of monthly and annual output objectives

· Carry out additional tasks as required of a Mine Technician, e.g. vent or service work.

 

To ensure success in this role, you will demonstrate proactive involvement in safety, quality and business improvements. Utilising your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will promote a team-based culture and exhibit genuine cooperation with other departments to achieve effective working relationships.

 

In addition, you will also have:

 

· Proven experience across underground hardrock mining operations

· Efficient operation of underground long hole drills, preferably E7C Simba

· Proficient in operating and troubleshooting EPIROC AutoDrill systems to ensure efficient and safe drilling performance.

· Ability to read, interpret and accurately execute long hole drill designs

· High level of safety awareness with a can-do attitude

· A valid Australian manual driver’s licence

· A Working at Heights ticket will be need to held or obtained prior to commencement

 

Please note: This is a residential Fixed-Term Contract for 12 months, based near Orange NSW with a family friendly roster of 7 days On/ 7 Off/ 7 nights On/ 7 Off. Depending on your experience, we may offer FIFO or DIDO agreements to suit your lifestyle.
