The Director of Product Development serves an important role for Nite Ize by developing and implementing product line and category strategies to support revenue and profitability growth of the business.
This role is responsible for both the strategic planning of the products within the portfolio of Nite Ize product categories and developing new products and processes through close work with key stakeholders and cross functional teams.
The position for Director of Product Development will be open until October 15, 2025.
Key Responsibilities for Director of Product Development:
Strategic:
- Work closely with Executives to provide input on the overall business plan and interrelated strategies across all product categories.
- Devise long-term product development strategies for assigned product categories. Utilizes available data and insights to determine industry and consumer spaces for growth.
- Identify and pursue additional product innovation for the brand, whether through internal resources, external networks, or M&A opportunities.
- Coordinate communication between internal teams to create and maintain cohesiveness and communication for successful project completion.
- Construct bi-annual sales launch and various other product planning presentations.
- Assists other team members with projects outside of products, including, but not limited to, displays, programs, new processes, and team activities.
Tactical:
- Oversee and manage daily activities of the Product Development and Engineering teams, providing resources and support to ensure they are individually and collaboratively successful in their roles.
- Oversee and manage process for PIM setup and management.
- Oversee and manage regulatory and customer compliance requirements.
- Responsible for development and adherence to project and department budgets.
- Responsible for effective leadership of all product development projects from concept to launch, as well as special projects with out of sequence launch or urgent deadlines.
- Responsible for vendor management to oversee product cost and quality.
- Communicate with factory contacts regarding new products and product pricing negotiations.
- Facilitate communication of product lifecycle through organization and assists in establishing EOL strategies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or other related field.
5-10 years related experience as individual contributor in category management, project management, product design and development, and/or similar.
5-10 years of experience leading teams with diverse roles and skill sets.
Solid knowledge of category management, product development, marketing, and sales principles.
Possess strong planning skills as well as analytical, problem solving, strategic thinking, and project management.
Knowledge of SmartSheet or other project tracking software, Oracle Cloud software, preferred.
Must be extremely self-motivated and able to exhibit out-of-the-box thinking to formulate new and creative ways of doing things; challenge assumptions, be comfortable with uncertainty, and have a future-oriented focus.
Ability to travel as required, including outside the US.
Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
Must be able to walk around manufacturing facilities and/or factories for extended periods of time.
Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
Must be able to use and test Nite Ize products.
Must be able to move and lift boxes up to 30 lbs.

Work Hours: This is a regular, benefits-eligible position with normal office hours. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.
Compensation: Hiring pay range $125,000 to $200,000 , DOQ.
