We are looking for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Rheumatology to join our Canada Immunology Team in the geography of Quebec, CA

 

About the role

As an MSL at UCB, you will be responsible for executing key medical strategies to enhance care and positively impact patients living with rheumatologic diseases. The focus of this role is to maximize the impact of UCB's Immunology portfolio in the Quebec region of Canada. 

 

Who you’ll work with

This position is a field-based role serving as a key scientific partner to healthcare providers, organizations, and internal UCB colleagues.

 

What you’ll do

  • Maintaining deep scientific knowledge in Rheumatology and Immunology.
  • Identifying, establishing, and maintaining collaborative relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), clinical specialists, and researchers, and conducting scientific exchanges in areas of focus.
  • Delivering clinical value propositions and engaging with key decision-makers in medical groups, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and regional payers.
  • Identifying and supporting potential research expansion projects, collaborations, medical advisors, and educational partnerships.
  • Conducting local roundtables and education programs to enhance KOL understanding of unmet clinical needs.
  • Serving as a scientific expert at medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, and internal meetings.
  • Supporting and collaborating with field-based cross-functional teams to provide medical insights and expertise.
  • Reviewing and critiquing scientific publications to inform healthcare trends in Rheumatology and Immunology.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and communicating information concerning therapeutic areas, treatment options, emerging standards of care, and competitive intelligence.
  • Addressing medical information inquiries and providing effective clinical presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Locally supporting UCB clinical investigations and assessing feasibility, serving as the primary liaison for unsolicited Investigator-Initiated Studies (IISs) from inception to publication.
  • Providing field updates for the creation and/or updating of Standard Response Letters.
  • Operating at the highest level of UCB compliance and professional standards. Ethical decision-making and adherence to company guidelines are expected in all activities.

 

 

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills

Required:

  • MSc. required; Ph.D. preferred.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated success as an MSL; 5+ years preferred.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings.
  • Regular travel required throughout Quebec and to attend company meetings, conferences, etc. (including overnights and some weekends)
  • Territory: Montreal or Quebec City preferred, with travel across the province.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Completion of initial training and successful assessment required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in Immunology, particularly Rheumatology.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen with understanding of pharmaceutical industry and healthcare landscape.
  • Ability to proactively communicate and coordinate activities with other field-based and internal colleagues.
  • Creative, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Basic understanding of health economics and clinical trials.
  • Strong team player, able to interface effectively with marketing, sales, medical affairs, and clinical operations teams.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
