Job Summary:
The Mechanical Technical Specialist will troubleshoot to restore product flow, lead and train craft employees, and provide solutions to recurring design, process, and application problems. They will analyze equipment and process data to identify and develop improvements, assist in outage planning, follow up on equipment issues, and manage small capital projects, major repairs, and maintenance projects. Additionally, they will support process engineering.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Adhere to Arconic EH&S, quality, continuous improvement and other company policies
- Act as direct support of the Maintenance Organization
- Work in tandem with craft employees
- Act as a resource for technical guidance to manufacturing personnel
- Respond to trouble calls on a 24/7 basis
- Assist in the design of manufacturing processes and procedures
- Assist in overseeing and executing downtime work on small and larger projects
- Assist in justification of new equipment & ensuring that rebuilds and spares are sent for repairs or are ordered
- Be involved with continuous improvement initiatives of manufacturing methods
- Use lean manufacturing tools and principles to improve work, actively support and participate in problem solving (5c’s and 8 step problem solving)
- Interface with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve technical issues
Also note:
- This position will require frequent shift and weekend line/maintenance support. Travel can be up to 10%. This position is eligible for relocation benefits. This role reports to the Maintenance Superintendent.
Qualifications
You have: (required)
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with Mechanical systems and controls utilized in industrial applications
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Exceptional Candidates also have: (preferred)
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
- 5 years of experience with working knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles
- 5 years’ experience in product and process failure analysis and an understanding of world class manufacturing techniques such as lean manufacturing, FMEA, RCM SPC, TQM, etc.
- Gas fired combustion system exposure desired
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Proficient problem solving and creative thinking skills
- Strong maintenance background
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
