Summary of Job Functions: 

The Team Leader/Job Developer is responsible for developing employment opportunities in the community for individuals receiving Supported Employment Services from The Arc of Anchorage. This position serves as a liaison between The Arc, community vendors, and the Division of Senior and Disabilities Services (DSDS) to coordinate placements that are person-centered and sustainable. In addition to community engagement, the Team Leader provides leadership and oversight to a team of Direct Support Professionals and job coaches, ensuring they are trained, supported, and aligned with The Arc’s mission of professionalism, inclusion, and empowerment. The Team Leader is accountable to the person receiving supports, their team, and the agency, fostering collaboration and maintaining high standards of service delivery.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Job Development & Employer Relations – Identify and develop community-based employment opportunities that align with the skills and goals of individuals served; build and maintain relationships with local employers; and provide education, advocacy, and ongoing support to promote inclusive hiring practices.
  • Individual & Service Coordination – Collaborate with individuals, families, guardians, and interdisciplinary teams to create person-centered employment plans; provide referrals and resources for ongoing support; and participate in the creation and monitoring of Medicaid waiver service and treatment plans. 
  • Program Quality & Compliance – Monitor quality of services by conducting regular visits with employment partners and vendors; collect and maintain data on employment outcomes, attendance, and training needs; complete all monthly, quarterly, and annual documentation; and ensure adherence to Medicaid, DSDS, and agency requirements. 
  • Leadership & Staff Oversight – Provide guidance, training, and oversight to a team of Direct Support Professionals and job coaches, ensuring professionalism, accountability, and quality service delivery in alignment with agency policies and values.
  • Mission & Values Alignment – Uphold mandated reporting requirements, model professionalism, inclusion, and empowerment in all interactions, and remain accountable to the individual served, their team, and the agency.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Maintains positive and productive oral and written communication with outside service agencies and the community
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective positive working relationships with individuals, families, and agency personnel 
  • Participates as a team member working towards common goals, developing its members' skills, and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to use problem-solving, crisis management, and necessary para-professional human service skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate discretion, and integrity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software. 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: Associate degree in Human Services 
  • Required: One year of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities, and one year of supervisory or management experience. 
  • Required: NEC to be completed within one year of employment.  

Clearances:

  • Background checks as defined by licensing agencies 
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and proof of auto insurance 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 75 lbs. occasionally and 10–50 lbs. frequently. 
  • Must be physically able to assist individuals in emergencies and adapt to a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion beyond light work standards.  

Equipment Used:

  • Vehicle, computer (intermediate level), and general office equipment.
