About the role:

Central Bedfordshire Council is transforming its Day Services for Older Persons living with Dementia, creating exciting opportunities for those who want to help shape our vision.

At Beehive & Willow Branch, Dignity and Meaningful Moments are central to our ethos and at the heart of everything we do. Together with the people who attend, we have shaped a service grounded in respect, inclusion, and shared values. We are extremely proud of this ethos, which ensures everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported.

As a Care Assistant, you will play a key role in enriching the lives of the people who access our services. You will:

  • Welcome and support people attending the centre, ensuring they feel valued, safe, and included.
  • Assist with day-to-day needs such as meals, mobility, and personal comfort, always with dignity and respect.
  • Encourage and enable participation in activities that promote wellbeing, creativity, and social connection.
  • Offer companionship, conversation, and emotional support, helping people feel engaged and part of the community.
  • Support people living with conditions such as dementia, disabilities, or age-related needs, adapting care to their preferences and abilities.
  • Help create a warm, stimulating environment where everyone is encouraged to maintain independence and enjoy meaningful moments.
  • Work closely with colleagues, families, and volunteers to provide consistent, person-centred support.
  • Contribute to accurate record-keeping and share observations to support personalised care planning.

Who we are looking for:

The people who attend our services have told us they want a Care Assistant who is:

  • Kind and patient – someone who takes time to listen and doesn’t rush.
  • Friendly and approachable – with a warm smile and a caring nature.
  • Respectful – treating everyone with dignity, no matter their needs.
  • Encouraging – willing to support people to try new activities and build confidence.
  • Reliable and trustworthy – someone who they can count on to be there for them.
  • Good company – able to chat, laugh, and share meaningful moments.
  • Understanding – especially of people living with dementia, disabilities, or health conditions.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and willing to bring new ideas for activities and community experiences.

We are looking for proactive people who can embrace new ideas, celebrate the small wins, and recognise that every moment can be meaningful. You’ll need to be adaptable, resilient, and ready to approach challenges with positivity.

    Ideally, you will have:
        •    Experience of working with Older Adults living with Dementia

        •    The ability to plan and deliver a variety of activities
        •    A full driving licence and be willing to travel between different locations

Please note: Travel is essential for this role as you may be required to support at other support services, attend reviews and professional meetings and access training at other CBC sites. You will preferably have a full driving license with access to a vehicle.
