Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
- Three (3) years of experience in the sheet metal trade, one (1) year of which shall have been at the journey level.
- Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's license with a good driving record.
- May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call-back overtime or regular overtime, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status.
- Knowledge of the methods and skills in the equipment, materials, and tools appropriate for a wide variety of sheet metal work.
- Knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national codes.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals.
- Capability to estimate time and material needs, determine when the repair is not economically practical, and perform routine tasks and arithmetic computations.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
Preferred
- Completion of an acceptable apprentice-level training program.

Major Duties/Essential Functions
- Leads and performs a variety of skilled journey-level sheet metal-related installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
- Fabricates, assembles, and installs a variety of sheet metal such as heating, ventilating, and air- conditioning (HVAC) ducts, hoods, filter frames, locker parts, components for coolers, ovens, and other kitchen equipment, guards for industrial equipment, etc.
- Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on materials, using scribers, dividers, squares, and rulers.
- Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers to cut, bend, block, and form, or straighten materials.
- Welds, solders, bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, or bond parts to assemble products.
- Performs work on-site or in a shop.
- Drives a vehicle to and from locations and keeps the vehicle supplied with tools and materials.
- Performs operator maintenance on the vehicle and keeps it in orderly condition.
- Keeps records and makes reports of work accomplished and materials used.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
