The Role
As a Payroll Specialist II at FreshDirect, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our team members are paid accurately and on time. This position goes beyond processing numbers—you’ll be a trusted partner to employees, supporting them with payroll questions and delivering exceptional service. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you’ll handle complex payroll tasks, compliance responsibilities, and employee inquiries with accuracy, professionalism, and care. What You’ll Do
Payroll Processing & Compliance
- Calculating and processing Payroll adjustment forms (PAF)
- Process severance, settlements and bonuses
- Calculating and processing retro payments
- Process weekly employee changes via Demographic files
- Performing data entry of new hires weekly (direct deposit and taxes)
- Processing wage garnishments and levies
- Manage Covid report for payments. Process all union medical, union and initiation deductions, assessing arrears as needed
- Assist with weekly payroll register audit
- Weekly processing of Winston benefit deductions
- Process Wageworks Commuter benefits weekly
- Submit monthly Lincoln disability reports – generate invoice
- Submit monthly union billing reports
- Assist with all external payroll audits as needed
- Assist with all year end reporting W2 and W2C’s
Employee Support & Customer Service
- Checking and processing the physical mailbox and Payroll email inbox daily
- Provide assistance to employees with ADP mobile app, Paystubs and copies of W2
- Issuing or replacing Wisely Pay cards/checks as needed
Reporting & Cross-Functional Support
- Complete Ad-hoc reports for various departments as needed
- Manage leave of absence reports yielding payments
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or two or more years of Payroll experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; college degree is highly preferred
- Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws required
- Knowledge of ADP and Kronos UKG Preferred
- Proven facility in MS Office, excel skills, data entry, and office equipment
- Proven facility in customer service, research and problem resolution
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Keen attention to detail to ensure data integrity.
- Bilingual English/Spanish written and oral preferred

• Compensation: Expected salary range of $59,000–$65,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed during the interview process.
