Job Overview: Multi-faceted opportunity to engage in PDM’s operations in a hands-on, tactical role. Primary functions would include inspection and documentation of structural steel products, engaging in a group project with peers, and programming CNC shop equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform housekeeping responsibilities and implement/follow 5S organizational methodology.
- Mark products with identification and appropriate visual markings per PDM’s Quality Control documentation procedures.
- Conduct and maintain documentation of pre-fabrication inspections, post-fabrication inspections, shop drawing corrections, tape measure calibrations, mill tester calibrations and stud welding tests and inform management of any nonconformity of product or equipment issues.
- Participate in group project and presentation at completion of internship.
- Program CNC equipment using appropriate software.
- Support safety and production programs.
Areas of Accountability:
- Learn & understand company safety policies and procedures and promote compliance.
- Assist in the transformation of the shop floor culture to one of Continuous Improvement and Accountability.
- Demonstrate reliability through exceptional attendance.
- Embrace and enhance a positive culture.
- Become proficient in AWS D1.1 welding standards and reading and interpreting shop drawings.
- Master documentation of Quality Control testing and inspection records.
- Become proficient in CNC software and programming.
- Provide end of summer report-out on group project including proposal and associated costs.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic math and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to read tape a measure.
- Ability to multitask and handle fast-paced, fast-moving work.
Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline preferred.
Experience: Construction related experience preferred.
