SALARY:
$51.93 – $63.13
$9,001.20 - $10,942.53
$108,014.40 - $131,310.40
* Additional 3.0% COLA pending APCD Board approval 9/17/25
The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District (APCD or District) is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our team. This position provides the primary support for all of the District’s technical needs, including programming, database administration (DBA), server infrastructure, and desktop hardware and software support. We are looking for a collaborative IT professional who can not only maintain but also continuously improve our information technology services, helping the District transition from legacy in-house developed systems to modern applications. This is an opportunity to work with great people, influence new system selections, and support the community.
Position Duties
The ideal candidate will have several years of relevant experience as a self-motivated IT professional who is adept at managing priorities, performing root cause analysis, optimizing system performance, and solving problems in collaboration with diverse teams and external IT partners. The District’s IT environment currently includes the following, and experience in these areas is desired:
- Programming, including .NET VB.Net WinForms and C#
- Database Administration (SQL Server, Access, TSQL)
- Microsoft Visual Studio
- Microsoft Office VBA Macros
- Microsoft Server 2022+ server maintenance/upgrades/migration
- Microsoft Windows 11
- Script development, including Python, R, and PowerShell
- Cost/benefit analysis for hardware/software acquisition
- Laserfiche Enterprise Content Management (ECM)
- Microsoft 365 products, apps, services including SharePoint Online
- Microsoft Active Directory Services (ADS)
- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
- Microsoft Intune
- Project Management and/or Vendor management

The APCD is an independent local agency working to protect the health of over 280,000 county residents in beautiful San Luis Obispo County on California’s Central Coast. With a mission to protect air quality, the District focuses on business assistance and education. By partnering with the local community to implement pollution-reducing regulations and programs, the District moves the county forward towards attainment of state and federal air quality standards. The District is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of 12 elected officials, representing each district of the county and the seven incorporated cities. While APCD is an independent agency not affiliated with the County of San Luis Obispo, APCD does participate via contract in the County's Retirement Plan administered by the San Luis Obispo County Pension Trust. Current active members in the Pension Trust (i.e., current County employees) who are hired by APCD without a break in service would retain their current status under the Retirement Plan (e.g., Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3) and their accumulated Pension Trust Service Credits. Minimum Qualifications
