Your role at BHSN:

As a Family Specialist at BHSN, you will coordinate the planning and treatment process for each child care. 

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm (Some flexing may be required)

What your day might look like:

  • Assisting with pre-placement process
  • Oversee development of service and discharge plans with Foster Parents and others involved with the child's placement and treatment
  • Create service plans and coordinate meeting of treatment team/service providers
  • Evaluate treatment, parenting and care of the child and maintain case-specific documentation on each placement as required by contracting agencies and OCFS regulations
  • Serves as primary contact for an monitoring/supervisor to Treatment Foster Parents
  • Collect and review documentation records kept by Treatment Foster Parents
  • Provides 34/7 on-call on a rotating basis with other program staff members
  • Has regular and ongoing contact with your and/or their discharge resource to evaluate goals and services as defined in individual service plans
  • Works closely with clinical consultants, ancillary services and other providing services
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Your skills and qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, special education, counseling or related human service field is required. Experience may substitute for field of study but not for minimum degree requirement. 
  • Minimum two years experience in providing services to children and families
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and sound writing skills are essential. 
  • Valid NYS Driver's License required for travel 
  • Flexibility in work hours/days
