Position overview
Lead, direct and assist in the supervision of warehouse associates assigned to the picking, packing and shipping activities, including quality control; coordinate daily activities to ensure they are handled in a timely manner consistent with company KPI targets, service standards and cost objectives. Responsibilities include coordinating all work activities, determining work procedures, monitoring work schedules, and provide adequate training to all new teammates working within the shipping department. The Shipping Lead will assign duties and examine work for exactness, quality, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Provide timely clear verbal and written communication with material handlers, dealers, vendors, and various PCNA departments regarding shipping issues.
Roles & responsibilities
- Plan, assign, lead, and participate in pick, pack, and shipping activities
- Monitor and adhere to shipping commitments in terms of daily shipping schedules and procedures
- Address and resolve operational or dealer related shipping issues
- Monitor and replenish as necessary any supplies and equipment needed in the shipping area
- Provide coaching to personnel and develop a productive work team
- Counsel department personnel on quality, productivity and attendance performance issues verbally and escalate ones in writing to supervisor
- Ensure team daily inspects and guarantees the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment
- Ensure system related issues are addressed and/or corrected
- Backup to Shipping Supervisor
- Motivate assigned team members to perform at a level that meets and exceeds our current productivity and quality targets
- Able to proactively solve problems and de-escalate employee matters/concerns
- Develop and participate in a 'continuous improvement' environment that facilitates process enhancements
- All other duties as assigned, including hold team members accountable to daily 5S requirements and implementing continuous improvement ideas into the operation from team member inputs.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 3+ years parts warehouse experience with an excellent work record
- Solid knowledge and understanding of computerized parts systems
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience in assigning work, ensuring quality work and effectively leading staff members
- Knowledge of Hazmat regulations
- Intermediate computer (PC) proficiency that include working knowledge of: SAP, MS Excel, Outlook and Word applications, etc.
- Sound foundation in basic mathematic principles
- Ability to operate material handling equipment, including mechanical equipment
- Ability to resolve conflict and have difficult conversations with material handlers if necessary
- Sense of urgency and passion to respond to issues and to make improvements.
- Maintain a positive attitude/disposition while displaying a safety-oriented mindset, a proactive approach, strong teamwork skills, adaptability, flexibility, excellent planning and organizational abilities, and having sharp analytical skills.
