Penske Media is seeking a collaborative Human Resources Director to join our Los Angeles office. Reporting to the VP of HR, this role combines high-level HR business partnership with operational excellence and technology leadership.
As HR Director (Business Partner & Operations), you will serve as a trusted advisor to corporate and media business unit leaders, aligning people strategies with business goals across performance management, employee engagement, workforce analytics, and HR technology. In this role, you will champion a people-first, performance-driven culture. This role is also pivotal in advancing PMC’s digital transformation and optimizing HR operations through data and AI-driven insights. This role aligns closely with our commitment to driving innovation and building a high-performance culture based on accountability, collaboration, and inclusivity.
As PMC values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely in our West Los Angeles headquarters with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership
- Advise leadership on org design, team effectiveness, and workforce strategy. Function as a strategic partner to leadership teams, empowering creative and operational excellence while supporting a culture that values informed risk-taking, celebrates curiosity, and champions the best ideas—no matter where they originate.
- Partner with business units to align HR efforts with corporate objectives.
- Partner with Finance to review compensation structures, annual budget, and pay equity to ensure alignment with business goals.
Performance & Engagement
- Lead performance management systems and engagement programs: Develop and drive performance systems that clarify expectations, reward exceptional contributions, and promote a culture of delivering exceptional results.
- Foster culture and manage sensitive employee matters with discretion and integrity.
HR Operations
- Leverage analytics and AI to identify workforce trends, predict turnover, and inform strategy.
- Build dashboards and predictive models to guide decision-making.
- Lead optimization and integration of HR tech platforms (UKG preferred).
- Drive digital HR initiatives, from automation to user experience improvement.
- Ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance.
What We Are Looking For
Leadership & Communication
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and build trust across all organizational levels.
- Collaborative, trusted advisor who operates as a strategic thought partner to the business and a champion of HR innovation.
Experience
- 10+ years in HR with focus on business partnership and tech-driven solutions.
- 5+ years in performance management, employee relations, and org design.
- 3+ years managing HRIS platforms; UKG preferred.
Tech & Data Expertise
- Proficiency in HRIS and ATS; we are on UKG and Greenhouse.
- Experience with AI-powered HR solutions and system integrations.
Mindset
- Enthusiastic about aligning HR innovation with business goals and optimizing HR systems for operational scalability.
- Creative, forward-thinking, adaptable, and results oriented.
- Team player with strong project management and process improvement background.
- Ability to foster relationships and build trust at all levels of the organization. Confidence in driving results.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in HR, Business, Data Analytics, or related field.
- Experience in media, entertainment, tech, or high-growth environments a plus.
- SPHR/PHR or relevant certifications a plus.
Typical wage range: $115k - $130k + Bonus.
