Reporting to the discipline Manager, the Control Preparation Room Supervisor will work in our busy warehouse. They will be responsible for the day-to-day management for the team of technicians working within the control department, ensuring systems are prepped and de-prepped to a high standard and in a timely fashion.
The role includes providing technical support to staff / customers and the support / training of more junior members of staff. It will require the candidate to work flexibly, in a developing environment. In addition, you may be required to assist or cover for other roles within the operation for which full training / support will be given.

Your day will look like this:
- Scheduling of workload and allocation of tasks to members of the control team
- Liaising with the service team to keep hire inventory in good working order
- Ensure the technical development of the department, keeping Solotech at the forefront of audio equipment providers
- Ensure equipment preparation meets the standards expected by the business and our clients
- To oversee equipment preparation by junior staff
- To develop a training program for preparation staff
- To develop safe working practices according to H&S policies
- Assist the asset management team with stock location/requests, and highlighting potential shortages within the department in a timely manner to ensure smooth prep whenever possible.
- Ensuring equipment is delivered within timelines and with appropriate packaging and documentation.
- Immediately reporting to account managers any anomalies, lost, stolen or damaged equipment
- Ensure Hire Preparation Area is maintained in a clean, organised and tidy condition
- Identify and develop improvements to performance and processes through Continuous Improvement and working with managers, including.
- The role may be required to assist, or cover for, other roles within the operation for which full training/support will be given.
- Be a Solotech ambassador at all times.
- Any other reasonable ad-hoc tasks as required by your manager
Essential skills / experience:
- Extensive knowledge of digital consoles & infrastructure, including DigiCo, AVID, Midas and Yamaha, Dante networking and RF systems from Shure and Sennheiser
- Good administration skills and an excellent telephone manner are essential
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure - the role is fast paced, with several jobs prepping, loading, de-prepping and unloading simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills.
Willingness and ability to learn quickly.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, ability to use a database software.
Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised, whilst recognising when to ask questions
Level of education:
- Educated to industry related degree level or equivalent is desirable
Work Experience:
- A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role
Essential requirements:
- Right to work and remain in the UK
- Full, UK Driving Licence (may be required to transport equipment)
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours as required in addition to your normal hours of work from time to time.
