Position Description
Title: Program Director
Reports to: Spence Eccles Club Director
Salary Range/Benefits: $20+ hourly, DOE, paid leave, medical and other Insurance benefits, 401(k), discounted childcare.
Hours: 40 hours/week; Monday–Friday 8 hours/day 9:00AM-7:00PM variable. Some evenings and weekends required.
Location: Onsite at the Spence Eccles Boys and Girls Club, 141 N 600 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84116
Up to 10 hours of remote work time per week: approved by the Club Director and not during program hours.
Status: Hourly, non-exempt.

Job Summary:
The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a broad range of programs for elementary age youth (1st-6th grade) and teens (7th-12th grade). The Program Director also provides leadership, supervision, and evaluation to program and volunteer staff. They manage budgets and control expenses as assigned; maintains and seeks out positive relationships with community partners, school administration, school district partners, and Club parents. The Program Director is also responsible for administrative tasks such as monthly program reporting, grant management, grant reporting, and frequent program evaluations.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
1. Hires and trains program staff
- Works with Club Director on hiring of staff (interview process)
- Trains staff on their job responsibilities, Boys & Girls Club expectations and provides tools and coaching for success
- Conducts annual staff evaluations
- Arrange and facilitate training as needed or requested
- Assists staff in planning and implementation of programs
2. Recruits and maintains Club members
- Creates and maintains excellent rapport with school and school district personnel/administration and community supporters
- Offers programs that address the needs and interests of Club Members, families, and community
3. Coordinates programs and activities
- Creates and maintains a structured schedule for staff, youth and parents
- Plans programs that meet the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake goals, objectives, and required grant requirements
- Plans and facilitates national programs as required
4. Financials
- Responsible for maintaining the budget set for the program
- Responsible for managing expenses and managing supply budget
5. Safety and guidance of all Club members
- Provide guidance to all youth to help them make appropriate choices
- Deal with inappropriate behavior with positive discipline
- Create safe environments for all youth
- Keep program spaces clean and organized
6. Meetings
- Participates in regular meetings, coaching, and training with supervisor
- Coordinates weekly meetings with staff for updates
7. Data Collection
- Maintains adequate data collection
- Calendars
- Monthly Reports
- Attendance Data
- Club Reports
- Membership Data
- Complete all paperwork as needed in a timely manner
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to the development of youth specifically between the ages of 6-18.
- Understanding of group dynamics as well as Boys & Girls Clubs' Youth Development Strategies, Mission Statement, Core Beliefs, and Core Characteristics.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of effective guidance and discipline for youth and adults.
- Has proven ability to manage, motivate, and supervise subordinates.
- Two-year college degree or, at least, two years related experience in youth service and management.
- Must be knowledgeable in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Other Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old (for driving requirements)
- Must be able to drive 15 passenger vehicles and have a good driving record
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and MVR check
- Must be able to pass Drug Screening
- Be CPR and First Aid certified (the Boys & Girls Clubs can arrange for this)
- Obtain valid Food Handler's permit as required (the Boys & Girls Clubs will arrange for this)
- Be able to function for more than 2 hours on your feet
- Be adaptable and flexible to change
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
