Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Computer Information Science, or a related field, with 1-3 years of relevant work experience required.
This role requires both hard skills, such as statistics and data modeling, as well as soft skills, such as communication and problem-solving.
A successful candidate would: (1) have solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power BI, Google Analytics, Adobe Test & Targets and Business Objects reporting; (2) be strategically minded and enjoy thought experiments; and (3) have strong data analysis and storytelling skills.
Abilities
The Business Intelligence Analyst I must have: (1) excellent verbal and written communication skills; (2) proficiency with Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel; (3) an understanding of technology-driven business intelligence tools and other related data analytics software; (4) the ability to collect and compile relevant data in order to analyze information and think systematically; (5) strong organizational skills with great attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities; (6) the ability to work well with a team, but also independently (self-motivated); (7) the ability to develop creative solutions when troubleshooting problems; and (8) the ability to develop strong relationships across the organization.
Overview
The Business Intelligence Analyst I will assist with gathering, analyzing and compiling data needed to identify trends and patterns, in order to assist in making well-informed recommendations to key departmental stakeholders (primarily the Product Development, Finance, Marketing, and Sales departments) for future business decisions, where applicable. This position is responsible for delivering cohesive reports with analytics-based solutions. This position is at-will and is not covered by the State Employee Grievance Procedures Act.
Responsibilities
Data Analysis and Interpretation:
- Collaborates with internal departments to define business requirements and objectives.
- Gathers, analyzes, and interprets data from various sources to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
- Translates data findings into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations for business improvement.
Reporting and Visualization:
- Designs and develops reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to effectively provide on-demand insights to stakeholders.
- Monitors and tracks key metrics, identifies anomalies or deviations, and provides timely insights and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Provides training and support to pertinent staff to utilize self-sufficient analysis and reporting tools.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:
- Presents analytical findings, recommendations, and insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
