About the Department
The City of Gresham is excited to announce an opening for a Recreation Coordinator (Program Technician). This role will oversee the daily operations, programming, and scheduling of the Gradin Sports Complex, our newest event facility, and will coordinate with the Parks Operations team ensuring that the facility is safe, clean, and well-prepared for community use. The Recreation Coordinator will play a key role in building strong community partnerships, managing field use, developing and coordinating recreational programs, and delivering high-quality events and tournaments for the Gresham community and visitors alike. This position is critical to the long-term success and sustainability of Gradin Sports Complex, a public investment we expected to serve as both a recreational hub and an economic driver for Gresham. Position Duties
What you will get to do:
- Develop, coordinate and oversee the daily operations, scheduling and maintenance readiness of the Gradin Sports Complex.
- Represent Gresham Parks in community meetings, make presentations and promote park programs through written materials and social media.
- Build and maintain positive partnerships with local and regional organizations, user groups, vendors and volunteers.
- Coordinate with existing and new partners on games and tournaments.
- Help develop meaningful community engagement and offset park operational staff time through recruiting volunteers.
- Assign and direct the work of volunteers.
- Review work and bring concerns to supervisor’s attention.
- Maintain computer databases for community demographics, course development, vendor information, class
information. - Gather and report program financial, statistical and other data, including demographic data, registration and administrative information; develop and prepare written reports and correspondence.
- Recommend changes to programs based on information collected and communicate directly with current programming technician who oversees reservations.
- Coordinate and manage food cart operations at the sports complex, including identifying, selecting, and
contracting with vendors that align with the needs of specific tournaments and event demographics - Develop and maintain positive vendor relationships, ensure food offerings are appropriate and responsive to
participant and spectator preferences and make adjustments as needed to ensure quality and suitability - Oversee all aspects of the food cart contract including compliance, performance and renewal

Work schedule:
The current schedule for this position requires a flexible schedule, including possible evening and weekend hours to support programs and events. Days and hours may vary depending on the season and field use.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of facility operations, event coordination, and community programming.
- Experience working with volunteers, community groups, and vendors.
- Intermediate proficiency with databases, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for events and tournaments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One year or more of experience (full-time equivalent) in recreation coordination, program administration, or a related field
- Valid driver's license
- Good driving record according to the driving matrix below
- NRPA Certified Parks and Recreation Professional
You will be disqualified from this process if you possess any of the following driving infractions:
- A major traffic violation or accident that results in death or major injury.
- Driving under the influence (DUI) charge within the last 5 years.
- Have more than 3 moving violations within a 3-year period or more than 2 within a one-year period.
- Have more than 2 accidents within a 3-year period.
