POSITION SUMMARY
Enhances the quality of life for Credit Union West members and team members by meeting or exceeding their service expectations. The Network & Security Administrator I ensures the stable and secure operation of the organization's network and security infrastructure. This role includes configuring, maintaining, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communication links, as well as implementing and maintaining security measures. The administrator also analyzes and resolves end-user hardware and software issues, providing necessary training and support. This position works closely with other IT teams to enhance network performance and security.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Network Administration – Assist the technical support team with network issues, ensuring prompt resolution through ticket queue, phone, and email support. Respond to escalated calls for technical assistance, resolve technical issues, and install new hardware and software. Ensure devices connected to networks are operating correctly and coordinate issue resolutions with other teams. Provide technical assistance with special projects.
Network Maintenance – Maintain and support computer networks, ensuring proactive and efficient resolution of network issues. Support and maintain deployed technologies with the network team and IT management. Monitor network connectivity and performance, participate in the installation and upgrading of network equipment, software, and hardware configurations. Document processes and system changes. Interact with vendors and contractors to support and maintain products and services.
Security Administration – Implement and maintain security measures to protect network integrity, including firewalls, antivirus software, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption. Monitor network security and respond to security incidents. Conduct regular security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations. Stay current with security trends and training programs, applying new security measures as appropriate.
Maintain performance standards by performing all activities consistent with core values, meeting established service standards, policies, and procedures, and preserving the confidentiality of systems and records.
Provides backup support to other areas of the department as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. Certification in one or more of the following is preferred: CompTIA Network+, Security+, MCSA, CCNA.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network and security administration. Technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and router commands. Extensive application support experience with in-house software solutions. Technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including switches, routers, cabling, and telecom/phone systems. Ability to operate network component analyzers, scanners, and testers. Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience. Understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

- Must demonstrate functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
