Annual Salary: Specialist I- $69,326.40 - $88,480.32
Specialist II- $78,500.24- $100,188.40
Exempt - Not Eligible for Overtime
Benefits-eligible & 401(a) payment equals 5% of base salary.
General Summary:
Seeking a highly motivated and detailed-orientated individual to join the Public Works (PW) - City Engineering team as Specialist 1/11. Under general Supervision, this position performs specialized technical tasks involving a variety of responsible, administrative, and paraprofessional duties in support of the division's operation and/or assigned project. Public Works Specialist incumbents will provide lead direction to the City Engineering Division and office support staff and make decisions of moderate impact and consequence within predetermined guidelines. The PW - Specialist II will assume additional responsibilities to enhance these efforts. This position will report to the CIP Analyst for the City Engineering Division.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Specialist I:
- Assists with office and administrative support, including preparing correspondence, reports and other communication materials, responding to customers and the public
- Archive and maintain data
- Coordinates logistics for a variety of processes, activities and meetings
- Conducts and responds to surveys and prepares related reports
- Performs data queries within the department's various databases and produces reports
- Participates in the preparation of material for newspapers, publications and/or websites
Specialist II:
- All functions of Specialist I.
- Leads and participates in office and administrative support, including preparing correspondence, reports and other communication materials, responding to customers and the public
- Archive and maintain data
- Coordinates logistics for a variety of processes, activities and meetings
- Conducts and responds to surveys and prepares related reports
- Performs data queries within the department's various databases and produces reports
- Prepare and/or deliver programs, training programs and other related workshops
- Participates in the preparation of material for newspapers, publications and/or websites
- Plans, assigns, schedules, supervises and evaluates the work of assigned staff
- Collaborates with staff to develop, implement, and monitor work plans that support unit objectives.
- provides input to the annual budget; makes purchases and other expenditures in accordance with City procedures and monitors performance against the annual budget
- prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Specialist I – High school diploma or equivalent; and one (1) year of relevant professional experience with an Associate’s degree. (Desired)
- Specialist II – Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; and three (3) years of relevant professional experience, or five (5) years of relevant experience without a degree.(Desired)
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and applicable legal requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Monday.com.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Adv advanced knowledge of Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
