Job Summary:
The Regional Sales Director will lead new business development and key account management functions across a large, multi-state region. This individual is accountable for regional sales growth, profitability, managing key customer relationships, and expanding market presence while building and developing a high-performing sales organization. The Sales Director will directly manage Sales Managers, provide dotted-line leadership to locations without sales leadership. The ideal candidate is a proven sales leader with the ability to drive results, develop talent, and create a culture of accountability and success across a region.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises a team of Sales Leaders.
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, developing, and managing performance for a region of sales professionals.
- Conducts performance reviews, establishes goals, and ensures alignment with company strategy.
- Ensures adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue, profitability, and market share goals.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard Sales Managers, Key Account Managers, and Account Executives.
- Train, mentor, and develop sales leaders and sales teams to drive productivity and reduce turnover.
- Oversee sales pipeline management, territory planning, and account strategy.
- Manage large, strategic target accounts to ensure growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement sales training programs to strengthen selling skills and leadership capabilities.
- Lead, motivate, and support a results-driven sales team through regular meetings, training, and field visits.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to drive loyalty and retention.
- Track KPIs and generate actionable insights from sales data.
- Report regional sales performance to senior leadership, highlighting successes, challenges, and recommendations.
- Partner with operations and other stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and execution of sales initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety, integrity, and ethical sales practices.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of sales leadership experience, with at least 5 years leading multi-site or regional teams, preferably within the safety or industrial services industry.
- Proven track record of achieving sales growth and managing multi-state or multi-region territories.
- Experience building, coaching, and managing high-performing sales teams.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
- Financial acumen with experience managing sales budgets and profitability, with ability to interpret financial and operational data to drive informed decisions.
- Proficiency in CRM software and data-driven sales management tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel frequently (up to 50–70%).
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally to support trade shows, product demos, or training events.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, talking on the phone and in virtual meetings as well as presenting in-person for meetings, client visits, and conferences.
- Prolonged period of working on a computer.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
