- Ensure that every person assigned to a job has the correct work instructions, tools, PPE, and applicable references available and is familiar with what is required to complete the task.
- Assure proper documentation for work performed by assigned employees, reflecting the status of the job.
- Directly oversee the work performed by any individuals who are unfamiliar with the methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to perform any maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations.
- Verify qualifications of assigned employees to ensure only properly trained and qualified employees are assigned to each task.
- Assure accurate accomplishment of work by assigned employee.
- Assure work performed in accordance with all manuals, procedure, and data.
- Review work performed by assigned technicians prior to submission to inspection for acceptance.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental compliance.
- Conduct start of shift meetings to inform team members of any day-to-day issues.
- Provide an accurate and complete turnover to next shift lead and supervision.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensures that equipment is maintained and operational according to company requirements.
- Supervises and performs mechanical tasks as assigned. Assists in training other mechanics.
- Reviews shop status and in process repairs.
- Meets with supervisor to receive daily repair orders and priorities.
- Assigns repairs and tasks to employees. Performs repairs as time dictates.
- Assists mechanics in troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs.
- Monitors shop safety and housekeeping.
- Keeps supervisor informed of the status of parts that are in the shop for repairs.
- Reviews and completes all necessary maintenance documents generated by his assigned employees.
- Makes sure completed work areas are clean and all tools returned to their proper use.
- Adheres to all company work rules and policies, safety rules, and properly uses all equipment entrusted to him/her for the performance of tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- 5-7 years of experience as a general mechanic working in a manufacturing environment
- 1 year of experience supervising 3 other mechanics
- Strong problem solving, job task planning, & organizing skills.
- Must be knowledgeable of and capable of repairs in an efficient and effective manner.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing.
EDUCATION
- High school education or GED equivalent
- 2 year's experience performing as an accomplished mechanic in a manufacturing environment
- Capable of interpreting drawings and blueprints to accomplish a specific task.
- Must understand and follow maintenance manuals and IPC.

- Dexterity for handling small parts and tools in tight spaces

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE
- Advanced knowledge of machine operation; ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively.
- Proficient with use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments
- Able to read blueprints, lubrication schedules, and engineering specifications.
- Strong understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Pushing, pulling, reaching above/at/below shoulder, standing, stooping, crouching, bending, walking, crawling, kneeling, carrying, and lifting 10-100 lbs.
- Able to sustain a steady work pace over an entire workday.
- Able to tolerate confined spaces for periods of time.
- Able to climb steps and ladders.
- Subjected to loud noises, vibrations, hardworking surfaces, lubricants and chemicals, fumes, dirt and inherent hazards of mechanic work.
- Able to work utilizing safety glasses, steel-toed work shoes, uniform and hearing protection

- Internal: Act in a consulting capacity to management, engineering, and other departments requiring technical guidance.
- External: Work with vendors, contractors, and consultants as required. May guide and coordinate the procurement of prototype tooling and other support material and equipment.
