About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience our Indigenous employees. As a residential (drive-in / drive-out) mine, Cadia values community deeply, offering both financial and in-kind support to organizations across Blayney, Cabonne, and Orange townships. Who we’re looking for
As Superintendent – Ventilation, you will be Cadia’s technical authority on atmospheric control and mine ventilation. You’ll take ownership of a critical system that underpins both safety and productivity, while guiding a dedicated engineering team towards excellence.
This role offers a rare balance of strategic influence and hands-on impact. From developing long-term ventilation strategies and budgets to monitoring system integrity and ensuring compliance with industry standards, you’ll play a key part in driving operational success at one of Newcrest’s flagship assets.
You will have an ability to inspire, mentor, and guide a team while building on your solid foundation in ventilation engineering.
This leadership role will see you:
- Oversee the design, construction and operation of ventilation systems across the mining lease
- Develop strategic and tactical plans for ventilation and related facilities
- Drive risk assessment, change management and regulatory compliance
- Monitor system integrity to meet both operational and project development demands
- Lead and mentor engineering teams, embedding knowledge for succession and long-term capability
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership in managing risks, incident investigations, and technical reviews, in operational or technical environments.
You will also possess the following:
- A degree in Mining, Thermal or related Engineering discipline
- Demonstrated experience in mine ventilation within both mining and consulting environments
- Proven expertise in ventilation system design, planning and regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of occupational hygiene and emergency preparedness
- Professional membership with AusIMM, Engineers Australia, or equivalent
