Web and Application Developer
Location: Central Office
Reports To: IT & Data Director
Summary of Role
The Web and Application Developer manages and enhances Celebration Church’s Rock RMS platform through database management, web and application development, and system customization. This role ensures data integrity while delivering solutions, automations, and technical support that improve processes, reporting, and user experience across ministries.
Position Status & Schedule
- Exempt, Salary
- Full-time (40 hours)
- Sunday through Thursday: hours vary dependent on events scheduled; may include weekends and evenings
- Christmas, Easter, Pursuit Weeks, and Dream Team Appreciation service dates and times are blackout days for time off. Other events will be required outside of your regular schedule; you will be informed in advance of these requirements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Rock Development & Customization
- Develop and maintain Rock RMS workflows, dashboards, and page components using Lava, HTML/CSS, SQL, and JavaScript.
- Implement and support custom blocks, features, and integrations using Rock’s extensible framework.
- Participate in database architecture planning, field creation, and structured content modeling.
- Collaborate with ministries to deliver custom reports, page views, data automations, and event solutions.
- Test and troubleshoot issues in Rock across staging and production environments.
Data Administration
- Oversee data integrity and implement automation to prevent duplicate records and inconsistencies.
- Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and check-in configuration for all campuses.
- Maintain clean, accurate data sources across systems, ensuring Rock serves as the single source of truth.
- Build and authenticate reports, queries, and workflows to support ministry needs.
- Manage and oversee background check compliance reporting within Rock.
Project & Process Support
- Lead or support Rock-related development projects from planning to deployment.
- Provide documentation for new features, workflows, and best practices (e.g., charters, how-to guides, tutorials).
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation using Rock’s capabilities.
- Maintain and regularly update the staff intranet (staff page) and internal tools.
End User Training & Support
- Train staff and volunteers on proper Rock RMS usage, with a focus on data entry best practices, check-in processes, and workflow navigation.
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and user guides.
- Provide weekend and event support for Rock-based check-in systems and troubleshoot issues as needed.
Dream Team Management
- Support and develop the Data Integrity Dream Team.
- Coordinate Dream Team serve time focused on maintaining data accuracy and supporting church events.
- Train and onboard new Dream Team members to serve effectively in data-related areas.
- Create a healthy volunteer community and develop leadership within the team.
Contribute to the overall successful of Celebration Church by performing other duties as assigned.

Competencies
- Understanding of the role of technology in supporting church vision and operations
- Passionate about using technology to empower people and ministries
- Proven ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical team members, providing clear strategic guidance and support.
- Demonstrates strong analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and a detail-oriented approach to development and data management.
- Proficiency in web and application development using HTML/CSS, SQL, Lava, and JavaScript, with the ability to build and customize Rock RMS features.
- Self-driven with excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to recruit and lead volunteer teams
- Willingly flexes schedule to support projects and events as needed
Education & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in data management, software development, or Rock RMS customization.
- Required Languages & Technologies: HTML / CSS, SQL
- Required Technologies: Lava templating language (Rock RMS), XML, JavaScript (basic to intermediate)
- Preferred qualifications include experience in any of the following areas: Rock RMS, Project Management applications (Monday.com / Trello), Git version control (basic familiarity), Advanced Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets for data manipulation, UX / UI Design and Development
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office and Church facility.
- Must be able to position self to maintain supplies and equipment on lower shelves and in closets.
- Often move supplies and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
- Constantly work in an open office environment
- Ability to work outside in various climates and temperatures
