Job Title:        Special Projects Coordinator

Reports To:    Director, Business & Industry Services

Contract:       12-month

Summary: The Special Projects Coordinator supports businesses and industries within the district by coordinating training resources, managing key projects, and building strong community partnerships. This role focuses on workforce development and economic development initiatives while promoting customized training solutions that meet employer needs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with businesses, industries, and community leaders (e.g., Manufacturing Councils, Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development agencies, and state/private partners) to assess training and service needs.
  • Plan, organize, and manage projects such as economic development initiatives, apprenticeship programs, Training Industry Partner contracts, Existing Industry contracts, and customized training to address district workforce needs.
  • Coordinate logistics for training delivery, including facilities, equipment, curriculum, and instructors.
  • Recruit, supervise, and support contract instructors and subject matter experts.
  • Market safety and business and industry training services to increase client engagement and support regional economic growth.
  • Conduct research on job skills, industry trends, and equipment specifications to ensure relevant and effective training programs.
  • Evaluate the quality, effectiveness, and outcomes of training projects.
  • Prepare and submit required monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the Director of Business & Industry Services, Superintendent, and ODCTE in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Attend district, state, and professional meetings/events to network, gain access to business leaders, and stay current with workforce development trends.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal staff, daytime/evening instructors, and other coordinators to achieve common goals.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BA) preferred; or a minimum of five years industrial experience; and/or a minimum of three years as a coordinator/trainer in an industrial/business setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Must participate in Business & Industry Service Certification Program. The BISCP is designed to help BIS Coordinators more effectively meet their communities’ training needs. Must obtain/maintain specialized certifications in order to meet BIS customer training requirements.
