Summary: Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots programs by observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining & adjusts machine controls or edit programs as required.
  • Verify & adjust common G & M codes to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, & depth and angle of cut.
  • Demonstrates understanding and applies continuous improvement mindset to daily work to include LEAN concepts, machine PMs, & 5S workplace standards.  Participates in Kaizen events.
  • Operates a variety of high complexity machines and tools.
  • Understand and connect daily work strategy to area boards.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of machining, tooling & tool/product capability limits
  • Sets the highest ethical standards for self and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum High School/GED with two years of related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated mastery as a Machinist II required for advancement into Machinist III position.
  • Ability to follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Demonstrate math proficiency as it relates to this job (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals)
