Summary: As a CNC programmer, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical blueprints, inputting the design specifications, adjusting the machine cutting paths, and performing quality checks on the final product. 

 

To ensure success as a CNC Programmer, you should have extensive experience working in manufacturing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work unsupervised.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Read technical drawings and set up machines in accordance with blueprints.
  • Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly.
  • Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications.
  • Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality.
  • Consider tools required to cut particular materials and program machines accordingly.
  • Maintain technical proficiencies with existing technologies and research new technologies.
  • Work with Application Engineering and CNC Programmers to assist in prototype machining operations from Quality Planning to First Piece Approval.
  • Help justify, implement and manage capital improvement projects of equipment and technology.
  • Track, analyze, communicate results and/or data.
  • Benchmark Industry best practices.
  • Sets the highest ethical standards for self and others.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a (Horizontal Lathe) CNC Programmer is required.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential.
  • Should have a positive and professional attitude.
  • Available to work weekends and overtime.
  • CNC machining experience including set ups, troubleshooting CNC code, cutting tools, machine tools and machining related technologies.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret manufacturing processing issues and blueprints. Once analyzed, the incumbent will possess the ability to develop solutions which eliminate waste and enhance performance.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming, basic CAD/CAM software, understanding of tooling application.        PLC knowledge preferred. 
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Power Point. The ability to use other engineering related programs such as AutoCAD, THICAM and Esprit are a plus.
  • Demonstrate Math proficiency as it relates to this job (add, subtract, multiply, divide common whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).
