SCOPE
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Security the incumbent plans and coordinates the deployment and maintenance of new security integrated systems (SIS); program, maintain and upgrade existing SIS. They will compile information concerning physical risk by preparing a survey of the physical layout, environmental and personal risk of an area, department or building.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct and coordinate risk analysis and establish a Physical Security Plan for a floor or an office space; establish physical security standards and coordinate with project managers and/or project consultants.
• Coordinate and review requests for the installation, maintenance, upgrade and operation of all security technological and IT equipment. In this capacity, the SSC shall also act in a consultancy role and provide recommendations, plans and budgetary estimates as required.
• Assist with configuration of, users rights for the software and hardware; configure the changes asked by the different departments for the alarm codes, access cards, access privileges and opening hours on the SIS.
• Ensure that all security systems, software and data are managed adequately; setup data storage, backup, maintenance, updating and archiving and coordinate with IITS concerning server maintenance needs.
• Support the security department users on the SIS and computers.
• Provide level 1 and 2 IT desktop support to security personnel; coordinate with and/or escalate level 3 IT incidents and requests to IITS for non-SIS software or SIS related manufacturers.
• Assist in the search of new Integrated Security Systems Component.
• Ensure that all security system and equipment manuals are supplied and made accessible.
• Coordinate SIS maintenance and installation schedule with SIS service provider; ensure installation an repairs are completed and review monthly SIS maintenance bill. Document system changes and maintenance records.
• Provide 24/7 scheduled on-call assistance, for emergency operations or emergency SIS and desktop support.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the primary responsibilities and one to two years of relevant experience.
• Valid security permit for the Electronic System class from the Bureau de la Sécurité Privé du Québec.
• Ability to schedule and manage multiple projects and activities.
• Knowledge of security operations in a University environment.
• Proficient knowledge of security software/equipment management including (but not limited to) card access systems, alarms and CCTV.
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of network administration and systems.
• Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English and spoken French.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Availability to work outside of normal hours
• Availability to be on-call to respond to any malfunctions of the ISS, (Some problems can be corrected from distance) or give advice to the On-Call Staff or O.C.C./EOC Dispatcher in duty.
