Step into a unique career path where your creativity and love of language shape fairness in education.

Here, your skills in education, curriculum, or content design find a new home:
creating assessments that help programs choose their future professionals with confidence and equity.

Join Acuity Insights at a pivotal moment of growth as part of our Casper content team, where you’ll help create test content that gives higher education applicants the chance to be seen beyond grades and helps programs select the next generation of professionals.

Casper, our admissions test, uses video and word-based scenarios to measure the human skills that grades can’t capture, including collaboration, communication, empathy, ethics, fairness, motivation, problem solving, resilience, and self-awareness. Every year, thousands of applicants take Casper to show who they are, while programs rely on it to make fairer, more equitable admissions decisions.

As our next Senior Test Content Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring Casper assessments are built with clarity, fairness, and care. You’ll contribute to key parts of the end-to-end test development process, helping shape how applicants are seen beyond grades and how programs make confident admissions decisions. Working within a collaborative content team, you’ll learn, grow, and make an impact alongside peers, researchers, and production specialists, with feedback and teamwork guiding your journey.

If you thrive on wordsmithing, enjoy puzzling over tough language choices, and value open, caring feedback that strengthens the final product, you’ll feel right at home here.

This is a fully remote role open to candidates based anywhere in Canada. We support flexibility in how you structure your work hours, though during your first six months, when close collaboration and 1:1 learning are essential, you’ll need to work hours that overlap 10 AM - 4 PM EST (for example, 8–4, 9–5, or 10–6).

The Role You’ll Play

As a Test Content Specialist, you’ll be part of the team responsible for turning Casper from a library of scenarios into the complete, high-stakes tests that applicants take. While some teammates focus on developing and producing scenarios, your role will center on compiling, writing, refining, and preparing assessments so they’re accurate, fair, and ready on time.

Demand for Casper is growing, with more test versions to build and more applicants depending on it for fair access to higher education. To keep pace, our team is scaling,  and your contributions will be critical to maintaining Casper’s quality while creating space for new assessment products.

In your first few months, you’ll:

  • Go through onboarding and shadow peers to learn the foundations of Casper test design and compilation.
  • Partner with an experienced teammate to contribute to live test builds.
  • Learn the frameworks we use to ensure assessments measure the right skills.
  • Begin sharing ideas for new everyday situations that could become Casper test content.

As you grow, you’ll:

  • Compile Casper tests alongside a reviewer, ensuring each build is accurate and complete.
  • Refine language and structure so questions are clear, consistent, and fair to all applicants.
  • Categorize scenarios according to the human skills they measure, like empathy, collaboration, and resilience.
  • Build supporting resources that connect scenarios back to the skills we assess.
  • Contribute ideas during scenario development cycles to keep content fresh and relevant.
  • Explore new tools and approaches (including AI) that improve efficiency and scale.
  • Collaborate across the content team,  from writers to researchers,  to keep work aligned and on track.

Over time, you’ll become a key contributor to Casper’s success,  not only ensuring tests are delivered on time, but also strengthening the processes that make our assessments fair and effective.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role isn’t about instant mastery; it’s about steadily building confidence, independence, and momentum as you contribute to Casper.

In your first few months, early success shows up as:

  • Growing accuracy and attention to detail in your contributions to test builds.
  • Applying sound judgment to language and structure, even while seeking guidance on complex decisions.
  • Proactively flagging issues with questions, demonstrating curiosity and ownership.
  • Meeting deadlines reliably and handling recurring tasks with consistency.
  • Engaging constructively in feedback loops, using input to sharpen your work and strengthen team processes.

From six months onward, success means gaining the confidence to work more independently: compiling tests with less oversight, contributing with increased ownership of linking scenarios to the human skills they measure, and resources that strengthen clarity and fairness. You’ll also start building expertise in how Casper is designed at scale,  becoming a trusted contributor whose work helps the whole content team deliver stronger, more efficient assessments.

What You’ll Help Make Possible

By stepping into this role, you’ll help ensure Casper delivers on its promise: giving every applicant the chance to be seen beyond grades and giving programs the confidence to select their future professionals with fairness and care.

With your contributions, we’ll:

  • Open doors for applicants by highlighting the human skills that matter, like empathy, resilience, and collaboration.
  • Strengthen admissions decisions so programs can choose tomorrow’s doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, and other professionals with clarity and confidence.
  • Advance fairness and validity by supporting assessments that measure the right skills in consistent, defensible ways.
  • Scale our impact by helping us improve how Casper is built and delivered as demand continues to grow.
  • Build trust in Casper as a research-backed assessment relied on for high-stakes decisions worldwide.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll join Acuity’s Content Team, the group responsible for bringing Casper to life end-to-end, from brainstorming and writing scenarios, to producing video content, to compiling and refining the final tests applicants sit for.

In this role, you’ll work most closely with peers who specialize in test compilation and review, learning directly from their expertise as you build your own.

You’ll also collaborate with:

  • Scenario developers and production specialists, who design the prompts applicants respond to and produce the video content that brings them to life.
  • Researchers and psychometricians, who ensure Casper measures the right skills fairly and reliably.
  • Enablement and operations teammates, who support QA, contractor management, and process improvements.

Beyond the org chart, you’ll be part of a caring, detail-driven culture where feedback is woven into daily work. Here, feedback isn’t just critique; it’s how we sharpen ideas, support each other, and make Casper stronger. You’ll thrive if you value open dialogue, enjoy learning from different perspectives, and want to be part of a team that celebrates both shared wins and individual growth.

What You Bring to the Table

You’re someone who loves working with language and has proven strength in written English, through grammar, clarity, and nuance. You may have built these skills through teaching, curriculum development, educational content writing, editing, or similar work, and you’re ready to apply them in a new, specialized context.

You bring an eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the reliability it takes to manage recurring, process-heavy work. You’ve thrived in remote, collaborative environments, treated feedback as a tool to make your work stronger, and contributed to kind, supportive team cultures.

  • Language Mastery. High proficiency in written English, demonstrated through clear, polished outputs.
  • Education or Content Background. Professional experience creating structured learning or written materials, for example, curriculum design, teaching, training, editing, or content development.
  • Attention to Detail. A track record of managing detail-heavy work where accuracy and clarity mattered.
  • Organization & Reliability. Experience structuring your workflow, delivering recurring outputs on schedule, and meeting deadlines independently.
  • Feedback Resilience. History of seeking out and applying feedback to improve both your work and shared outcomes.
  • Collaboration. Examples of working closely with peers or cross-functional partners, balancing your own perspective with openness to others.
  • Adaptability. Experience adjusting to shifting priorities, evolving processes, or new tools, bringing a steady, solutions-focused mindset in moments of change.
  • Kindness. Evidence of contributing to supportive, respectful teams where people feel safe to learn and grow.

A Unique Perspective

Casper is stronger when it reflects a wide range of perspectives. We deeply value experiences that broaden our team's understanding of the world, whether that’s Indigenous identity or community knowledge, professional work in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), bilingualism (English/French), or something else. These experiences aren’t required to apply, but when they’re present, they make a meaningful difference in strengthening the fairness and inclusivity of our assessments.

What to Expect From the Process

Whether you apply directly, are referred, or connect with a recruiter or hiring manager, you’ll be given equal consideration. Every application is reviewed by a real person, with care and attention to your experience, skills, and motivation, as well as the qualities that help people thrive here.

We don’t use AI to evaluate applications. If you don’t meet baseline requirements (such as Canadian residency and valid work authorization), you may be automatically screened out. During conversations, we may use AI-powered note-taking to support focus and accuracy, but all decisions are made by people.

We view hiring as a two-way conversation. Our goal is to learn about your career journey, abilities, and interests while giving you the insight you need to decide whether this role and team feel like the right fit.

Here’s what the process looks like:

  1. Application Review & Response. A human carefully reviews your application. You’ll hear back from us either way.
  2. Conversation with Recruiter. A recruiter will connect for a phone call to learn more about your background and goals, and to share details about the role, team, company, and culture.
  3. Take Home Assignment. On your own time, spend up to 30 minutes on a shortened version of the Casper test to help us assess your English language proficiency, and complete a small project relevant to the work and role.
  4. Team Conversations. Join a series of 1:1 conversations with peers and collaborators to explore mutual fit and learn more about life at Acuity Insights.
  5. Decision & Follow-Up. After consolidating feedback, the hiring manager makes a decision, typically within 2-4 business days.
  6. Offer Conversation & References. If it’s a mutual match, we’ll walk through the offer together. Any offer is contingent on reference checks.

We know our process is a meaningful time commitment, and we truly appreciate the effort and energy you invest in getting to know us. We aim to make every step thoughtful, transparent, and worthwhile, for you as much as for us.

Our Story & Purpose

We believe everyone has incredible potential. At Acuity Insights, our mission is to uncover it, nurture it, and help bring it to life.

Our journey began with a bold idea: to improve how we assess people, not just by academic metrics, but by who they are. In partnership with McMaster University, we developed Casper in 2004 to measure the durable, human skills that matter in health professions and other fields where people work with people. That vision came to life with the founding of Altus Assessments in 2014.

Meanwhile, One45 started in 1998 at the University of British Columbia, helping medical education programs digitize complex processes like curriculum management, scheduling, and assessment. Over time, it became a trusted partner to programs across North America and beyond.

In 2021, Altus Assessments acquired One45, and in 2022, we unified as Acuity Insights, a single, growing organization with a shared purpose and broader vision.

What started as two distinct products is now one integrated mission supported by our Analytics solution, which delivers actionable insights to drive continuous improvement across the learner journey.

Today, our platform supports students and institutions from admissions to graduation across North America, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia.

As we continue to grow, we’re committed to being more than a software provider. We’re trusted thought leaders and valued advisors in higher education, offering practical solutions, strategic insights, and guidance that help our partners make confident, informed decisions.

Life at Acuity Insights

We’re a remote-first team of 135+ people who care deeply about our work and about each other. While we collaborate virtually across time zones, we make space for connection through thoughtful rituals, candid conversations, and the occasional in-person meetup when we can.

Our core values (caring, curious, and driven) shape how we show up for each other, our partners, and the learners and educators we serve. We listen with intention, build with purpose, and hold ourselves to high standards without losing sight of empathy and balance.

We’re committed to inclusion and belonging, not just in principle but in practice. Diverse perspectives make us better, more creative, more resilient, and more equipped to solve meaningful problems. Our policies are designed to support equity, flexibility, and well-being.

If you’re looking for purposeful work, room to grow, and a team that’s as thoughtful as it is ambitious, we hope you’ll consider bringing your expertise to Acuity and helping shape the future of higher education.
