Overview:

ViaPath is currently seeking an Associate Accountant to join our team. Responsibilities will include preparing month-end balance sheet reconciliations, posting journal entries, maintaining appropriate supporting documents for general ledger balances and transactions, maintaining shareable paper and electronic files, etc.  The accountant should have a passion for numbers and have a focus on accuracy and timeliness of financial records for management, tax, and audit purposes.

 

This is a hybrid position that requires 3 days in our Mobile AL office.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations for Monthly, Quarterly Close (Prepaid Expense/Maintenance Accounts) and year-end Financials
  • Prepare and maintain Fixed Asset Project Schedules
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to record revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities
  • Prepare and maintain other accounting schedules as requested
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assist with the yearly financial statement audit and external auditor requests
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external consumers of financial data
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 0-3 years of accounting experience
  • Firm understanding of GAAP standards, reporting requirements, and internal controls
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP System, Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus
  • Possess a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and resourcefulness to meet schedules and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills needed to develop collaborative working relationships within accounting and cross functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully with minimal supervision to take on new tasks with varying levels of difficulty and see them through to completion.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting competing deadlines
  • Skills to accumulate, organize and manipulate quantitative data to identify relationships and explain trends
  • High attention to detail with the ability to summarize and reconcile large quantities of data
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities to include strong math skills
