The Senior Engineering Project Manager is responsible for strategically leading multiple engineering projects from development through certification. This role ensures alignment with customer requirements, timely delivery, and achievement of financial performance goals. This role serves as the primary liaison between the Program Manager and cross-functional engineering teams, providing leadership, coordination, and technical oversight to drive project success.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Collaborates with internal and customer management teams to plan, develop, direct, and control engineering projects.
- Serves as the primary technical liaison for both external customers and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent communication and alignment.
- Develops and maintains the engineering components of project planning documents, including cost tracking, schedules, risk assessments, and opportunity evaluations.
- Coordinates with engineering managers to ensure appropriate resource allocation across all assigned projects.
- Leads cross-functional efforts to meet key delivery milestones, ensuring the highest-quality outcomes with efficient manufacturing and minimal waste.
- Develops, maintains, and presents project health metrics to cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
- Analyzes ongoing project and development activities to identify opportunities for cost savings, quality improvements, and process enhancements.
- Supports P&L leaders in defining and executing project milestones and key activities through project completion.
- Assists company teams in developing new business opportunities supported by Engineering.
- Supports internal efforts to explore and implement new technologies and products.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, and at least 6 years of relevant engineering experience in aviation; or an advanced degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience managing engineering projects through the full lifecycle, including planning, execution, and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple concurrent projects within strict time and budget constraints.
- Strong leadership, customer relations, and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to coach and develop technical professionals of varying experience levels.
- Skilled in writing and reviewing company policies and procedures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or other project documentation tools.
- Must meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements as a U.S. Person.
