Pay Range: $21-$23.50/hour

Position Overview:
JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Immigration Legal Services team as the Immigration Program Coordinator. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your customer service skills and multi-cultural experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Immigration Program Coordinator plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by fielding inquiries to the Higher Education Legal Service program and providing outreach about program services. This position reports directly to the Program Manager and works closely with the HELS Program and the rest of the Immigration Legal Services team.
Responsibilities:
Client Support
- Manage inquiries for immigration services for the HELS Program and screen for eligibility
- Assess, schedule and prepare legal appointments for HELS Program caseworkers
- Assist HELS staff to prepare and mail immigration filings
- Coordinate and document client communications
- Provide translation of client documents and interpretation at meetings
- Support the general Immigration Line as needed
Outreach Coordination
- Promote HELS in community workshops, information sessions and partner meetings
- Support HELS outreach projects to promote services and share important immigration information through social media, online communications and campus events
- Coordinate with JFS Marketing to provide resource information on the HELS webpage
Administrative
- Stay up to date on rapidly changing immigration laws and policies
- Comply with data and program reporting requirements
- As the primary staff member charged with the day-to-day administrative tasks to support the HELS program staff, be ready and willing to step in and assist the team as necessary
- Conducting legal intakes and screenings. Opportunities to learn and apply immigration legal concepts through training, shadowing and outreach events
Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:
- Valid driver’s license, access to an automobile, insurance, and willingness to drive off-site locations, namely college campus and other outreach locations
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with vulnerable populations and in multi-cultural settings
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish
- Strong customer service skills and cross-cultural understanding
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work under pressure
- Ability to work both independently and with a team
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Passion for social justice for immigrants
Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:
- Proficient in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, Outlook
- Experience using social media platforms, Canva, and Zoom
- Bilingual in one of the following: English/Arabic, English/Farsi, English/Tagalog, English/Vietnamese
- Experience promoting events or services online
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires sitting at a desk and using screens most of the day
- Occasional work on college campuses walking to offices, bringing materials and tabling
