The Photography and Printmaking Studio Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, organization, and technical support of the photography and printmaking instructional areas. This includes support for both analog and digital processes, care and maintenance of equipment, and upkeep of shared classroom/studio spaces.
The Technician reports to the Chair of Fine Arts and works under the daily direction of the Photography and Printmaking faculty.
This is a part-time, academic-year, non-teaching position with a flexible schedule of approximately 16-18 hours per week, to be determined in coordination with the Chair of Fine Arts. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support class schedules or events.

Essential Job Functions
Studio Maintenance & Support
Ensure that all photography and printmaking studio spaces are clean, organized, and ready for instructional use
Maintain and clean tools, presses, sinks, darkroom equipment, scanners, and other studio hardware
Monitor and perform routine upkeep of printing presses, ventilation systems, enlargers, and drying racks
Prepare chemistry, inks, and other materials for courses and demonstrations as directed
Safety & Environment
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and campus safety protocols
Ensure the proper use of PPE and enforce safety practices across all studio areas
Properly store and label hazardous materials and dispose of chemicals in accordance with institutional guidelines
Materials & Equipment
Maintain inventory of materials, chemicals, inks, and consumables
Receive and organize supply deliveries
Report low stock levels and assist with purchasing and vendor coordination
Student & Faculty Support
Provide technical support to students and faculty in the safe and effective use of studio equipment
Assist in onboarding new faculty or studio users to procedures and equipment
Troubleshoot basic issues with analog and digital photographic equipment and printers
Ensure signage, instructional documents, and safety procedures are posted and up to date
Additional Duties
Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
- May be asked to serve on Munson interdivisional committees
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or BFA in photography, printmaking, fine arts, or a related field preferred
1–2 years of experience in an academic or professional studio environment preferred
Technical Competencies
Working knowledge of traditional black-and-white photography processes, including darkroom printing and film development
Familiarity with digital photography workflows, including scanners, inkjet printers, and software like Adobe Photoshop
Experience with printmaking processes such as monotype, relief, intaglio, and/or screen printing
Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and perform minor repairs on studio equipment
Organizational & Communication Skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal communication skills and a collaborative working style
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform manual tasks in a studio environment for extended periods
