Manages and directs Perioperative Support Associate personnel in all phases of between case surgical room cleaning, stocking and maintenance of defined supplies, post mortem care, positioning and transport of patients, care and handling of blood/specimens and routine cleaning of pre-defined areas all within compliance with Hospital and Departmental standards. Ensures compliance of hospital, regulatory and departmental standards.

  • 1. OperationalOperates as Sector Supervisor for the Perioperative Support Associate personnel. Sectors include OR pavilions such as North, South, East and West Pavilions.
    • 1.1 Ensures that each assignment on shift is sufficiently covered. Sets up cross coverage plan to effectively reassign personnel to cover for absent employees.
  • 2. Human Resource Management Responsible for the timely writing and submission of performance reviews for assigned employees using hospital performance metrics software.
    • 2.1 Ensures that in-service education and training is provided to all personnel. This includes department orientation as well as job specific performance.
  • 3. Quality Assurance Ensures that the environmental conditions within the OR comply with regulatory, departmental standards and Infection Control policy guidelines.
    • 3.1 Conducts inspections on all assigned staff and identifies corrective action with each employee to address any discrepancies found in the inspection. Follows up with each employee to ensure the appropriate corrective action has taken place.
  • 4. Administrative Utilizes Kronos software system to edit employee time cards to ensure accuracy, tracks employee attendance and takes action at appropriate intervals.
    • 4.1 Makes recommendations pertaining to annual Capital Budget Requests.
  • 5. Personal Effectiveness Values constructive criticism and modifies behaviors accordingly.
    • 5.1 Follows through consistently on commitments and task closure.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION


Associate degree preferred


EXPERIENCE


Two (2)- three (3) years healthcare experience required in a service oriented department such as EVS, Operating Room or Procedural area or educational background of an associates degree that compensates for work experience.


LICENSURE


ASHES certification, Clinical Engineering certification or related Environmental Service certification preferred.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Demonstrates effective computer skills including proficiency for use of software programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, internet and email systems. Must possess highly effective written and oral communication skills in addition to good interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff. Possess the ability to train, coach and develop personnel. Ability to effectively and independently manage multiple priorities along with assigned projects and initiatives


PHYSICAL DEMAND


Need to be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
