GVI, Inc, a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC and a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking a Data Analyst to join our team in Patuxent River, MD supporting Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), and Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

 

Description of duties:

  • Perform data collection, data analysis, testing, and troubleshooting on large quantities of financial data.

  • Work with customers to define requirements and business rules for reporting solutions

  • Extract, transform, and load data using TOAD, SQL, and/or Informatica

  • Provide configuration and/or data management for data, information, files, and documents.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Translate customer requirements into technical specifications.

  • Analysis to address current and future Navy ERP information needs.

  • Functional support for reporting solutions.

  • Involved in database design and deployment.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Experience developing and executing SQL queries in Business Objects / TOAD / Cognos or similar BI tool

  • Familiarity with visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau or PowerBI

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel (mail merge, pivot tables, macros, VBA)
  • US Citizen.
  • Ability to pass background check and Investigation for Tier 3 Public Trust Clearance.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of data analysis experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience developing/creating reports with Business Objects or other BI query tool

  • Experience developing visualizations using Qlik, Tableau or PowerBI

  • Experience with Navy ERP or other similar financial management system a plus

 

Support requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical analyses and functional support of the Data Warehouse Project through all phases of requirements development, testing and maintenance. The Contractor shall collect information from a variety of source systems or files (e.g., Navy ERP, Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS), Total Force Manpower Management System (TFMMS), Navy Manpower Planning and Budgeting System (NMPBS), etc.) as well as the various legacy transactional systems and spreadsheets for data mapping, integration, and loading.

  • Review and research data warehouse table discrepancies.

  • Prepare end user test plans to support User Acceptance Testing, conduct functional testing and perform system validation.

  • Provide updates and corrections to the data mapping and validate/test the data warehouse reports.

  • Provide functional support for the restructuring or redesigning of existing data which will result in improved reporting capability.

  • Support live systems, currently housed in the data warehouse as well as any that are planned to be included in the warehouse.

  • Perform information technology/management information studies on business, financial, and total force systems and provide recommendations and alternative solutions.

  • Provide data management for the warehouse by the review of Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Technical Design Specifications (TDS), source analysis worksheets (SAWs), identify business rules, and develop data dictionaries and nomenclature conventions.
