About the Department
We have an exciting opportunity for one (1) Outreach Specialist position located at our campus in San Jacinto, CA.
Under general supervision of the Director of K12 Partnerships, the incumbent assists in the development, coordination, and implementation of outreach programs, and serves as a liaison between the College and the community to provide up to date information pertaining to the College’s programs and services; facilitates outreach workshops, hosts community and K12 activities; provides campus tours for the development and implementation of a comprehensive outreach program.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- This position serves District-Wide; applicants may be assigned to any district facility. Work hours and worksite locations are subject to change depending on department needs.
- A six-month probationary period must be successfully completed before the selected candidate is considered a permanent employee of the district.

Position Duties

- Coordinate and facilitate outreach informational workshops and activities.
- Conduct presentations to school personnel, community organizations, parents, and students to inform them about the College’s programs and services at various schools and community sites.
- Attend various school and community functions to recruit participant and publicize the program.
- Provides responses to inquiries from students, parents, high schools, community partners and the public.
- Hosts community group visitations and tours.
- Participates in College and career fairs, high school visitations, parents’ nights, community events.
- Provides assistance to campus departments
- Establishes effective working relationships with high school counselors and liaison personnel.
- Assists with the development and updating of all outreach materials, forms, and information; inventories and distributes district brochures and other informational material: ensures all outreach sites have current literature.
- Attend and participate in staff development, departmental meetings, and other training opportunities as appropriate.
- Coordinate campus visits and other career exploration workshops/activities.
- Prepare and submit outreach related progress reports and annual reports on accomplishments, services, resources, etc.
- Perform other public relations, recruitment, liaison activities and related assignments as directed.
- Track and monitor participants activities to ensure appropriate and adequate services have been provided for the educational success and job placement.
- Maintain confidential files and updates information to the database system.
- Demonstrate ability to work flexible hours in the evenings and/or on weekends.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school or GED; AND
- Two (2) years of closely related experience equivalent to the duties described above in a community college and or the public school system; AND
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain within 60-days of hire, a valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District.
- Must maintain a driving record that meets District requirements set forth in the current policy as it relates to allowable types of infractions and points. Prior to access to District vehicles, must complete successful enrollment in the District's Direct Pull program with the DMV
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Professional Experience:
One (1) year of professional experience equates to 24 semester units of college level course work
Two (2) years of professional experience equates to 48 semester units of college level course work; OR
An Associate’s degree
Four (4) years of professional experience equates to 96 semester units of college level course work; OR
A Bachelor’s degree
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- working in a higher education environment
- coordinating programs and activities that require identifying outcomes and sequencing steps from design to implementation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
