About the Department

Under general supervision, is responsible for preparing and reviewing bank reconciliation and general ledger. Prepares and maintains grant activity reports to include filing reports with funding agency. Assist with the preparation of and assistance in implementing the annual budget. Monitors budgetary activity and ensures compliance with spending appropriates within all departments. Assist with the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and Budget.
Position Duties
- Performs various professional level activities related to the administration of the City’s general ledger, grants management (CDBG, FTA, FAA, Misc. Grant Fund), budget, and ACFR;
- Prepares and reviews monthly bank reconciliation;
- Responsible for activity for Airport Fund;
- Prepares analytical studies of financial data;
- Gather, analyze, prepare and summarize recommendations for financial plans, trended future requirements and operating forecasts;
- Develop, document and implement processes and procedures;
- Provide analysis and recommendations throughout the appropriation process;
- Assist with the budget and capital improvement planning development
- Special projects as assigned;
- Responsible for preparing audit schedules as needed;
- Ensures transactions are charged to the appropriate accounts;
- Reviews travel expense reports to ensure compliance with policy;
- Operates integrated financial system to access accounting and budget data;
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals to include the City Manager, other City departments and employees, state and federal agencies, other municipalities, etc;
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, or related field and three to five years of experience in governmental accounting, or any equivalent combination of education and experience; Computer literacy, strong Microsoft Word and Excel competency, spreadsheet and data entry experience required.
Requires: Strong teamwork and customer service skills; Attention to detail; Excellent communication skills; Exceptional analytical, problem solving and reporting accuracy.

Salary depends upon experience. Starting Salary is $56,180.80. | |||
