ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. POSITION SUMMARY:
This leadership team role functions to manage and develop the Refugee & Immigrant Youth Services (RIYS) department at World Relief Durham. This includes the implementation of the Refugee/Immigrant School Impact Program and the Youth Mentorship Program funded by the NC State Refugee Office (SRO) and all other programs supported through private funding from a variety of foundations and philanthropic organizations. The Program Manager will serve as liaison with RIYS community partners such as Durham Public Schools (DPS), grant funders, churches, mosques, mental health partners, recreational organizations and others to ensure high-quality and equitable services for immigrant youth and their families.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role is responsible for supervising others and includes responsibilities consistent with supervising employees, including but not limited to monitoring daily work activities, tracking and approving timesheets including approving time off, monitoring performance including entering goals, progress check-ins, and weekly or bi-weekly check-ins, documenting performance concerns, entering staff promotions, transitions, and separations in HRIS within required time frame. Managers at World Relief are also considered spiritual leaders and are expected to lead staff in a manner consistent with our Christian values, including but not limited to praying with staff, leading devotionals, and fostering a Christian environment in interactions with staff throughout World Relief.

Work closely with the Executive Director and RIYS program staff to further develop needed, gap-filling, research-driven services for refugee and immigrant youth in the Triangle
Supervise and provide technical support to a team of full-time staff, Youth Fellows, and interns across multiple grant-based programs with diversified funding
Coordinate DPS district and school-level staff, students, and parents to identify needs and challenges faced by students whose primary language limits their ability to benefit from existing public academic support services
Cooperate with DPS staff to ensure academic support developed by the RIYS team for these students is both pertinent to and advances the lessons being taught in regular classrooms to achieve measurable improvements in educational outcomes each academic semester
Create programming that facilitates the supportive integration of youth and their families as they acculturate in the US, staying up to date on best practices and multi-generational strategies for wraparound, comprehensive Youth Services
Implement summer enrichment programming through the Refugee & Immigrant Summer Enrichment Camp that provides a classic summer camp experience for refugee youth in a culturally and linguistically supportive setting
Collaborate with DPS staff to develop and implement cultural sensitivity and other trainings requested by DPS staff to increase ability to positively impact refugee and immigrant students
Develop meaningful partnerships with other youth-serving agencies and organizations in the Triangle and working collaboratively to ensure youth and their families are able to access vital services
Work with WRD Finance Dept. to provide budgeting and financial oversight to multiple grant programs within RIYS from varied funding sources/streams, report expenses to the State Refugee Office and other funders in line with proposed budgets and reporting guidelines in a timely fashion
Work closely with the Church and Community Engagement team to ensure volunteers with the RIYS program as tutors, mentors, etc. are prepared in terms of working with English language learners, child safeguarding, and cultural responsiveness
Collaborate with the Development Specialist, Executive Director, and others in all aspects of fundraising and development for RIYS including but not limited to: researching funding opportunities based on program needs, meeting with grant writers to support grant applications, providing helpful context and data for grant reporting, and meeting regularly with funders to steward growing relationships
Oversee the majority of administrative functions for the RIYS team through team management, HR functions (hiring, training & onboarding, time management & hour tracking, etc.)
Communicate important WR and local office policies to the RIYS team, responding to the needs of staff and being flexible and responsive to change management
Meet routinely with Executive Director for troubleshooting, brainstorming, accountability and feedback; additionally, participate in routine Strategy Team meetings with Executive Director and other department leaders
Utilize and develop Microsoft Dynamics, the state Refugee Information System, and case management databases at World Relief to track program data; case note as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Entrepreneurial skills; self-starter; strong initiative and development skills
Fluent in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, and Outlook; highly skilled in Google Suite products, including Google Drive; prefer Microsoft Dynamics experience
3+ years’ experience in educational leadership, ESL/ESOL/TESOL, volunteer coordination, youth services, or applicable field with supervisor experience
Strong change management, conflict resolution, and team management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment
Demonstrated ability to cross cultures respectfully and responsively, experience working with families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
