Responsibilities:Under the direction of the Vice President Medical Affairs and the Chief Executive Office this position is accountable for the management of Medical Staff Services (MSS). This position manages and supports the organized medical staff model; serves as primary staff to Medical Staff leaders and the Chief of Staff. The position is also responsible for the completion of projects related to quality/process improvement and legal and accreditation compliance management involving the medical staff. The individual will continually identify, monitor, and implement key measures and processes that are intended to improve/enhance the quality and financial position at the Hospital, and departmental level. These duties include but are not limited to the following: supervision of employees, budget preparation/ financial analyses, continuous quality improvement, performance and process improvement, medical staff education, and strategic planning.
1. Establishes scope of service, goals and strategic plan for the Medical Staff Services department ; responsible for the developement & implementation of the strategic direction and mission of the medical staff under the direction of the Vice President Medical Affairs and the CEO.
2. Develops methods for continuous process improvement and to develop department policies and procedures.
3.Conducts research and analysis to support concepts. Accountable for selecting, evaluating, counseling and terminating staff. Accountable for oversight of departmental staffing needs. Fosters an environment for team growth and personal development.
4.Accountable for the financial performance of Medical Staff Services including oversight of budget development, implementation, review and intervention.
5. Serves as primary staff to medical staff leaders and Chief of Staff at SLEH; acts as liaison between the medical staff and Executives.
6. Creates and executes effective communication methods with the medical staff; project leader in collaboration with health system executives, physician leadership, and service line team members to actualize strategic initiatives, including Capacity Management strategy.
7.Designs and deploys surveys to measure feedback of the medical staff. Serves as a liaison with the ED unassigned patient hospitalist group. Conducts performance analysis, contracting, and issue resolution. Provides rapid response and follow‐up to medical staff on any departmental issues that may arise.
8. Ensure MSS functions and operates within regulatory guidelines. Assists with the development and implementation of compliance initiatives as related to the medical staff.
Required Education and Experience:
*Bachelor's Degree
*Six (6) years of experience in related discipline
Required Certifications:
CPCS (within 12 months of hire)
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Training:
∙ Must be able to defuse high pressure situations and to communicate needs of SLEH VP Medical Affairs and/or SLEH CEO in a high quality manner that assures timely completion of projects assigned at all administrative levels.
∙ Must have strong writing skills
∙ Must be familiar with all aspects of health system management including operations, financial performance, quality enhancement & assurance, patient care delivery systems, governmental regulations, accreditation, and human resources
∙ Must have administrative, interpersonal, communication, analytical, organizational and management skills
∙ Must be able to prioritize numerous issues, projects, and people
∙ Must be proficient in analyzing business operations and communicating and implementing change
