We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic individual for a Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) role at Alkermes. This is an exciting, visible, and highly collaborative opportunity where you will play a pivotal role in executing on evidence generation plans in support of Alkermes’ most advanced pipeline program in sleep-wake disorders. You will report to and support the Head of HEOR in the delivery of research activities and development of materials to support engagements with key stakeholders, including physicians, regulatory agencies, reimbursement bodies, and patients/advocates. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in HEOR, excellent data science and visualization skills, great written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to foster and manage internal and external relationships effectively.
Alkermes has recently adopted a hybrid working environment to support and meet the needs of employees and this role will operate in a flexible environment with at least 60% of time in the office and up to 40% from home. This position is eligible for the hybrid workplace model, requiring work to be completed onsite at our Waltham, MA office at least 3 days per week. This role is not eligible for fully remote work.
Responsibilities
This Director of HEOR role will support our alixorexton (formerly ALKS 2680) program, which is currently in Phase 2 development and preparing for Phase 3 and potential registration. In preparation for Phase 3 activities, this role will focus on delivering high-impact research and related materials to support potential registration and reimbursement.
We are seeking a candidate who will be responsible for:
- Executing on the HEOR plan for the alixorexton program, with patient populations including narcolepsy type 1 (NT1), narcolepsy type 2 (NT2), and idiopathic hypersomnia (IH)
- Identifying and addressing evidence gaps and prioritizing real-world studies to inform treatment patterns, disease burden, patient-reported outcomes, and unmet needs
- Developing and delivering high-quality HEOR evidence and value communication strategies to support optimal access and reimbursement aligned with the alixorexton program objectives
- Gathering and synthesizing insights from payers, healthcare professional thought leaders, and HEOR experts
- Collaborating with internal teams on publication strategies to ensure that dissemination of HEOR evidence is timely and has maximum impact across our key stakeholders with presentations at conferences and peer-reviewed manuscripts
- Selecting and managing external research partners to ensure high-quality and timely study delivery
We are seeking a candidate with experience:
- Developing budget impact models (BIMs) and cost-effectiveness analyses (CEAs)
- Conducting indirect treatment comparisons (ITCs)
- Developing Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Dossiers and pre-approval information exchange (PIE) slide decks
- Real-world evidence (RWE) generation such as studies of natural history, burden of illness, treatment patterns, etc. using different data sources including claims data, electronic health records (EHR), registries, chart reviews, and qualitative research
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- MA/MS degree in HEOR/related field and 8+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in a HEOR role with direct research experience preferred; OR
- PhD/PharmD in HEOR/related field and 5+ years of similar experience noted above
Preferred Requirements:
- Strong record of high-impact publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills across both internal and external stakeholders
- The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting a competitive product launch
- Having prior experience in rare disease or neurological disorders, including sleep-wake disorders such as narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia, is a plus but not required
- Excellent project management skills
