Job Description:

About The Position 

The KIPP Foundation seeks a qualified candidate for the Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement. This role is designed for someone who is passionate about strengthening how our organization works so that we are more efficiently and effectively supporting regions and schools to achieve student outcomes.  As we move to a new way of working across the KIPP network in service of our mission and vision, we must build the systems and structures that keep our teams aligned on the most important work for kids.  

The Senior Manager will own multiple workstreams that support progress monitoring, system-building, and insight generation for the Schools Team and Regional Superintendents.  In this role, you will help to manage the flow of data across KIPP Foundation teams and to our regions so that we are effectively surfacing and communicating progress and gaps in our work and communicating solutions in compelling ways. They will study and tease out trends – especially around what is working – and study the root causes of what made that happen to be spread and shared with others. All of this is in service of the KIPP Foundation working more collaboratively and efficiently with one another and with our regions to achieve our shared goals. 

The ideal candidate has a deep belief in inspecting what you expect, experience creating processes and tools for monitoring work, proficiency with academic data, strong attention to detail, and excellent communications skills. They are driven by finding what works and ensuring we are communicating that clearly for others to implement. Reporting to the Senior Director, Continuous Improvement on the Schools Team, they will be joining a team that believes deeply in the potential of all students to thrive if we are able to create the right conditions internally and with our regions. 

Responsibilities 

Systems and Tools 

  • Design and manage core systems (e.g., trackers) that capture and monitor progress against network anchor measures. 

  • Own the development and evolution of continuous improvement tools, ensuring they meet stakeholder needs across multiple teams and regions. 

  • Partner with Chiefs of Staff and Data & Technology to identify new system requirements to ensure effective monitoring of our strategy and oversee implementation of those requirements. 

Monitoring Projects and Progress 

  • Lead multiple, annual monitoring workstreams that ensure accountability to organizational goals. 

  • Track follow-through on action steps from progress monitoring meetings and proactively remove barriers or escalate issues. 

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen alignment and efficiency across KF teams. 

Learning and Insight 

  • Conduct interviews, analyze data, and identify bright spots and barriers in school and regional performance. 

  • Synthesize insights into clear findings that can inform leadership decisions and shape ongoing improvement cycles. 

Communication and Reporting 

  • Draft regular reports and presentations that highlight progress, gaps, and next steps for the Schools Leadership Team, Regional Superintendents, and Office of the President. 

  • Coordinate with internal and regional stakeholders to ensure data and insights are communicated effectively and consistently. 

  • Create compelling communications that make complex information actionable for leaders across the network.

  • Effective Teaming and Stakeholder Management: Leads successful stakeholder management, accounting for varied perspectives when gathering feedback; builds coalition by prioritizing end-user experiences, building trusting relationships, and effective communications; able to identify and remove barriers to working across teams 

  • Strategic Decision Making & Problem Solving: Effectively uses data to inform work streams; accurately synthesizes key findings from data analyses and can effectively communicate the data synthesis to inform actions, decisions, and solutions. 

  • Effective Work Management: Effectively drives work they own through clear action planning. Manages time effectively around competing priorities.  Skilled in creating and executing project plans through partnership with stakeholders and effective delegation to achieve intended results on time. Skilled in knowledge management.   

  • Change Management and Communications: Effectively creates communications plans that supports team buy-in; able to lead change efforts through clear and compelling communications; acts as a champion for change with peers and within teams.  

  • Continuous Learning: Engages in the work of personal development holding themselves accountable to evolving, growing, learning and unlearning in ways that improve results for students, adults, and the larger community. 

 

Experience and Qualifications 

  • 5+ years work experience in an education system (district, CMO) 

  • Experience with academic monitoring and data systems preferred. 

  • Excellent written communication as demonstrated by work product examples. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including intermediate Excel proficiency) and Teams 

  • Baseline knowledge of the field of Continuous Improvement and how systems improve 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. Equivalent years of work experience encouraged to apply. 

Additional Information:

Work Conditions 

  • Travel requirements: 10% (for team meetings, all staff events, etc.) 

  • Job Type: Full time, Exempt 

Location 

It is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of a KIPP Foundation office. This role has the option of working from a remote office full-time. KIPP Foundation offices are in NYC and Chicago. 

Compensation and Benefits 

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is $100,000-$118,000. In addition, KIPP Foundation provides a variety of benefits to employees, including:  

  • 25 holidays for + 18 days additional flexible PTO days (flexible PTO increases to 23 days for years 3 and 4 and to 28 days for years 5+). 

  • 100% paid parental leave 

  • 100% coverage of the premium for employee and 75% for employee + family medical/dental/vision plans.
